More on the Timonen situation, thoughts on Letang, Radulov on Trotz…

Hey, Kris Letang cut his hair. My theory is, all that hair was throwing off his weight, causing an imbalance to his skating stride, which in turn caused knee and groin problems. With the hair gone, look for an 82-game season from Letang. Alright, fine, I’m reaching for fantasy-worthy news.

But since we’re on the topic of Letang, here is what I have for him in the Fantasy Guide: 59-11-36-47, 47 PIM

The Penguins signed Brandon Sutter to a two-year contract worth $6.6 million. I really like Pittsburgh’s bottom six this season and I think it will make a big difference in the postseason. I wasn’t a fan of the Rutherford GM hiring, but I have admit that he has addressed the team’s needs.

So yesterday there was a mix-up and it was to be my day for the Ramblings. Amato had taken about seven or eight days off this summer and I found coverage (Roos/Kennedy) for all of them except yesterday. I didn’t catch it until late afternoon when I finally went to DobberHockey to read the ramblings and was surprised to see they were my own…from Monday. So then I realized the mistake, and the ramblings were 20 hours late. You can read yesterday’s ramblings here, including my reaction to the Dellow hiring by Edmonton. The trick was to write a decent 750 words…yet leave some topics for these ramblings that are up just a few hours later. That’s quite a trick in early August.

Is PK Subban ready to become Montreal’s captain? Nissa Khan of The Hockey Writers says “no”. I agree. Too soon. So who should be captain? Plekanec, Markov or Pacioretty?

Taylor Pyatt had signed in the Swiss League a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday, his brother Tom signed there.

I’m late with this month’s rankings and I hope to have them up today. Never fails – every August 1 I’m late with them because I get the Guide out and then I walk away from hockey for a couple of days. But I don’t remember being five days late with it though. I guess the site upgrades and server issues took a bigger bit out of me than expected.
