Is Kris Versteeg returning to fantasy relevance?

Since raising Lord Stanley's Mug on June 9th, 2010 with Chicago (under the greatest title call in history), Kris Versteeg was sent out on a wild path, forced to swap jerseys four times inside 3.5 years. Ultimately, he wound up in a full 360, ending up back where he began his NHL career.

On the season, he has literally been thrown by coach, Joel Quenneville all over the place, in a myriad of different combos.

None has stuck, but surprisingly he's still chipped in despite the rather unrealistic lack of regular linemates. Five points over four different Line Combinations. Yes…. that's a massive sample size, I know – But we're not really given the luxury to utilize larger samples yet this year, are we. So work with me for a moment, if you will. Better play as of late has led to double the time with the loaded guns.

Moreover, the unfortunate injury (LBI) to perennial sniper, Patrick Sharp last contest has left Versteeg as the likely fortunate beneficiary. Although Versteeg was drooped to the third line last outing (accumulating two points in the process) alongside Bryan Bickel and Marcus Kruger, it is a strong possibility that Quenneville will be forced to bump him back up into the top six, possibly slotting in beside Hossa and Andrew Shaw.

Look for Versteeg to continue his scoring ways over the next couple weeks (two multi-point games in the last four, for a point-per-game pace over that stretch).
