Jooris has taken advantage of some injuries up front in Calgary to establish himself as a strong up-and-coming two-way forward. So far his offensive production has been strong and he is even getting time on the power play. Add in his faceoff ability (just fewer than five wins per game) and you have a nice all-around centerman.

Long-term, do not expect the offensive production to continue. When healthy, the Flames are going to be deep down the middle and eventually Sam Bennett will occupy one of those spots as well. Furthermore, Jooris' offensive history in the lower leagues is mediocre at best. This paints the picture of a player that will not score a ton of points when it is all said and done. Instead, look for Jooris to settle in as a strong depth centerman that remains viable in multi-category settings with secondary scoring and good all-around production.

Lost in the fallout of the trade that saw Bryan Allen shipped out for Rene Bourque is the fact that one of the big benefactors is Manson who is now a regular on the Ducks' blueline. Over his last eight games, he has logged 20 minutes or more five times. This ice time puts him in a great situation to be a solid multi-category contributor moving forward. Given his physical play and surprising amount of shots so far, it looks like Manson could be a strong defender in at least four categories. Plus, being on the Ducks will always help his plus-minus.

Brendan Ross has more on Manson and other prospects in his ramblings over at Dobberprospects. Needless to say that Manson is developing at a great pace and the Ducks are very high on him.

Like Carter, Strachan is a veteran that lucked into a great situation. The rebuilding Sabres need him to log some important minutes to help lessen the burden on some of the younger guys. His rough-and-tough style makes him a decent asset whenever he plays as he has shown in his limited roles in the past. As long as your league is not overly shallow and counts hits, blocks and PIM he is a good depth option. Bonus points if your league does not count plus-minus because, well, he plays for the Sabres.

As with many of the veteran journeymen that emerge as multi-cat bargain producers, Strachan has a lot of uncertainty ahead of him. An unrestricted free agent this summer, his chances of getting a similar opportunity with his new club are slim. And if he does re-sign in Buffalo he will likely face some stiffer competition as the team will look to bring in some new faces.
