Fantasy Impact: The Chicago Blackhawks trade forward Jeremy Morin to the Columbus Blue Jackets for defenseman Tim Erixon

The Blackhawks get: a two-way defenseman with a lot of upside to become anything from a solid stay-at-home blueliner to a decent secondary puck mover. Erixon has had trouble staying consistent at the NHL level and has been a frequent healthy scratch lately. But he took several years to get the hang of it in the AHL and is probably just a late bloomer in the NHL also – such as an Anton Stralman. They couldn’t get Morin into the lineup and he has to clear waivers to be sent down (he just got done his “conditioning stint” which really only served to buy them some time). So just getting anything for him was probably a good thing.
