Picking winners for today’s #NHL games? Here are the 6 best bets…

Welcome back! My first week of Saturday Game Picks went quite well as I managed to go 5 for 6. The Blue Jackets ruined my shot at 100% by beating the Bruins in a well fought game. This week I hope to stay hot and continue to help you guys… #GETTHATMONEY.

Record: 5 – 1

Washington @ Montreal (1pm ET)

The Caps ended a 4-game losing streak in style on Wednesday as they blanked the Pens 4 – 0. Braden Holtby was stellar in the win as he made 27 saves for the shutout. The Habs on the other hand continue to stay hot as they are riding a 4-game winning streak behind the rock solid play of Carey Price. Traditionally these teams have tight matchups as they have gone to a shootout in 2 of their last 3. I think the Habs should pull the win out but with the way both goalies have been playing… this one is too tough to call. One thing is for certain, it will be a goaltending battle. Shootout anyone?

Game Notes: Carey Price hasn’t missed a beat since the All-Star break, stopping 64-of-66.

Key Stat: Capitals are 7-0 in the last 7 meetings in Montreal.

Carolina @ New York (7pm ET)

The Hurricanes head into this matchup after having lost last night versus a high powered Blues team in a shootout. Carolina has played some great hockey as of late as they are 6-2-2 in their last 10. Anton Khudobin has been a major reason for the recent success of the Canes, however, he was pulled last night during the Blues game. This means that we should see Cam Ward face off against Henrik Lundqvist. The Rangers have lost two straight in which they only managed one goal. Luckily for them they get a Hurricanes team that that they have dominated over their last 10 going 9-1. It also can't hurt that the Canes are on the tail end of a B2B game that went to a shootout last night. Oh yah and King Henrik > Cam Ward.

Game Notes: Nothing to note both teams are HEALTHY!

Key Stat: Hurricanes are 5-17-1 in the last 23 meetings in New York.

Pick: New York – Home Team Win – H

Columbus @ Tampa Bay (730pm ET)

The Bolts head into this matchup against a Sergei Bobrovsky less Blue Jackets squad. Stammer and company must be licking their chops as they have a matchup with Curtis McElhinney who boasts a rather poor 2.99 GAA and .906 SV% this season. Ben Bishop on the other hand has played rather well as of late as he looks to find some consistency in his game. The Bolts are beastly at home (20-4-0-1) and their dominance should continue tonight against a slumping Blue Jackets squad.

Game Notes: Bobrovsky is sidelined with a lower-body injury and has been placed on injured reserve.

Key Stat: Blue Jackets are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Tampa Bay.

Pick: Tampa Bay – Home Team Win– H

Dallas @ Winnipeg (7pm ET)

The Dallas Stars currently sit 6th in their division and need to pick things up if they want to see post-season action. They play a high flying Jets squad tonight that currently holds a Wild Card spot. The Jets have played some solid hockey this season but are currently on a two game losing streak. I'm really interested to see who the Jets start tonight in the crease.  As of now, Ondrej Pavelec is projected to start. I'm not a big fan of Pavelec… the Stars offense could definitely make it a long night for him. If this game turns into a track meet, which I think it will, the Stars will win.

Game Notes: The Dallas Stars conclude their three-game road trip tonight.

Key Stat: Road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.

Pick: Dallas – Visiting Team Win– V
