The top picks for Daily Fantasy Hockey for Saturday, February 7.
Top Budget Plays
Centers
Mark Arcobello $2,500 – I'm sure Arcobello is enjoying his new digs on Pittsburgh. He's skating on the Pens 2nd line alongside Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist; certainly better than the linemates he had with Edmonton. Not only does is he slotted in a great position at even strength, he's also on the Pens 2nd power-play unit. Don't expect Arcobello to go off here but you can't deny the position he's in, and he doesn't need much to reach value.
Wingers
Matthew Nieto $2,900 – Nieto skates on the Sharks 2nd line and 2nd power-play unit for tonight's game in San Jose against Carolina. He's averaging about 15 minutes per game. He only has one point in his last three, but he does have 10 shots over his last four games. Outside of Dallas and Montreal, the Sharks are the next highest favorite on the board. This puts Nieto is a good position for a positive result. Carolina is just 7-21 on the road and gives up 2.93 goals per game while the Sharks are averaging 2.96 goals scored at home.
Defensemen
Danny DeKeyser $2,700 – I contemplated recommending Matthew Dumba for Minnesota playing at home against Colorado. I pivoted away from him simply due to a total lack of ice time. DeKeyser is averaging just over 21 minutes per game. DeKeyser is skating with the Wings 2nd pairing and on the 2nd power-play unit with Datsyuk and the Wings second line. Arizona is just 9-16 at home and is giving up 3.16 goals per game. Detroit is one of the top four favorites on the board tonight and Vegas expects this one to be high scoring. Expect the Wings to score 3+ goals here tonight, and let's hope DeKeyser finds his name on the score sheet.
Goalie
Robin Lehner $6,800 – Lehner's stats certainly aren't something to write home about, but he's still the best GPP option at the lower end of the board at just $6,800. He's allowed just two goals in each of his last three games, and if Ottawa could have scored in those contests he would have had three straight wins. None the less the Senators are a pretty significant favorite, and playing the Blue Jackets, who average just 2.38 goals per game on the road, with this one being a back to back situation.
Since we saved some money on the budget plays let's look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.
Centers
Tyler Seguin $8,700 – Buffalo has returned to their bottom feeder status after a few weeks of moderately successful results.Seguin is a superstar, and although has found more success on home-ice, he's still producing at above a point per game pace on the road with 25 in 23 games. Dallas is the highest event team in the league with over 117 Corsi per game. Buffalo plays at the 3rd slowest pace, mostly because of their lack of an ability to generate shots. With a Corsi differential of over 25, Dallas could really turn this one ugly. Seguin has to be a staple of your lineups tonight.
