Winnipeg Jets Acquire Jiri Tlusty

Fantasy Impact: The Winnipeg Jets have acquired winger Jiri Tlusty from the Carolina Hurricanes for a third-round pick and a conditional sixth-round pick.
The condition is that if the Jets make the playoffs, then that pick becomes a fifth rounder.
The Jets get: A skilled, but underacheiving winger who has bouts of impressive scoring mixed with frustratingly long funks of nothingness.
Fantasy Players Impacted: With Tlusty gone, you won’t see Alexander Semin getting scratched anymore. Or at least, he’d have to be pretty damn horrible to get scratched again. With Tlusty out of the way, Andrej Nestrasil will see regular minutes and players such as Semin and Nathan Gerbe will get a bump in ice time. The other interesting forwards on the Hurricanes were already seeing adequate ice time.
Tlusty replaces Mathieu Perreault in the Winnipeg lineup. Blake Wheeler is also injured, but he’s hopefully back on Sunday against LA. Getting another skilled winger gives the Jets the option of moving Dustin Byfuglien back to defense again. Tlusty will see top-six minutes, which isn’t really a boost because he was seeing that with Carolina anyway. But he’s useless as a checker, so it will be top six or bust. Maybe the change of scenery will be enough to get him going.
Potential line combos when Wheeler is healthy:
Ladd – Little – Wheeler
Frolik – Scheifele – Tlusty
Stafford – Lowry – Byfuglien
You’ll probably see countrymen Tlusty and Frolik on a line together to start. And when Perreault gets back (i.e. the playoffs), I’m sure Byfuglien moves back to the point (which is a good thing).
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Semin
2. Nestrasil (is he a fantasy player?)
3. Tlusty
4. Gerbe
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Stafford
