Fantasy Impact: The Leafs trade David Clarkson for the injured Nathan Horton.

The Maple Leafs get: cap relief. A healthy Clarkson is an anchor in any lineup who simply was not bringing much to the table. Horton's degenerative back issue will likely prevent him from playing again so he can go on IR and give the Leafs cap space to

spend elsewhere, perhaps even intelligently this time.

The Blue Jackets get: an able-bodied player in Clarkson. Because Horton's contract was uninsured they were paying him to not play. Even though his contract didn't count towards the cap it was still coming out of the small market owner's pockets. If they were going to be paying someone big money that player may as well be able to play, even if it is poorly.

Players this helps, in order:

David Clarkson

Richard Panik

Leo Komarov

Players this hurts, in order:

Alexander Wennberg

Marko Dano
