Saturday’s NHL Draft Kings Stars and Sleeper Picks

Top Budget Plays

Centers

Nick Spaling $2,900 – The playoffs yield few values under the $3K line but every so often there may be a gem that could possibly surprise. Spaling is not going to see top-six time barring a few injuries to the forward corps, but he could be a sneaky enough play, as he can find those areas in the playoffs as attest to his assist in Game 1. If he keeps performing at a better level, he could still move up, though.

Wingers

Adam Lowry $3,000 – With risks galore and not really knowing what return you’ll receive in these low price points, the key is going in the direction of a player that at least can occasionally light the lamp. Lowry scored in Game 1 and was one of the few players that took the "track and whack" mantra to heart without being too far out of position. Lowry can play as much as 14-15 minutes a night, so if he gets you two or three DraftKings points, that is not too shabby.

Centers

Ryan Getzlaf $8,500 – You looked at what Getzlaf and Perry did in Game 1 and like to think even if they do a fraction of that in Game 2, that will be enough. The three points in Game 1 make the following duo stack very likely as you will see below. The thing is when you get down to it, Winnipeg has to do a better job of spacing with the top line. Again, it is that familiar refrain. If Getzlaf gets a gap then look out over and over. This is definitely a way to go until the Jets prove they can stop the Ducks top line.

Wingers

Corey Perry $8,700 – There was that moment in Game 1 where Perry just had "those eyes" and you were glad, particularly if he was on your DFS roster. Perry rewarded the masses with the game winner that did go in. The Ducks scored four goals, and Perry had a point on each one. Yes, this will not happen all the time, but as the old adage goes, so goes line 1, so goes the Anaheim squad. This could be a good series to just spend up and go!

Defensemen

Kevin Shattenkirk $6,300 – Oh there was the Shattenkirk I was looking for in Game 1. Yes, St. Louis lost but if more Blues defensemen could play like that, they might not have lost in the first place. Minnesota is a fast, puck-hogging team anyway, so the Blues need more of that in Game 2 along with more carrying the puck into the offensive zone. Simply, if you could clone Shattenkirk, that would be great. However, for a pretty reasonable price, you can have one of the top defensemen on Saturday. That is a great deal!

Goalie

Henrik Lundqvist $9,200 –The fact that Lundqvist had a pretty easy performance against the Penguins in Game 1 makes us think he could be a strong start again. He stopped all but one shot and really was not tested until the third period anyway. Yes, Pittsburgh might play better in Game 2, but it just seems going back to the playoffs last year that the King Henrik has their number. The Penguins may want to try a different approach, but Lundqvist may even answer that too.
