Toronto Signs Shawn Matthias

Fantasy Impact: The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Shawn Matthias to a one-year contract.
The Leafs get: at 27, he’s one of the youngest unrestricted free agents on the market. That generally means that there is still some room to grow in terms of offensive upside and it also means they are getting Matthias in his prime. A once very highly touted prospect, Matthias has since proven that he doesn’t have that top gear that puts him among first-line forwards. But he’s since learned to adapt. He’s 6-4, 223, but doesn’t use his size (low hits, low PIM) enough. However, he’s become a solid penalty killer and as we saw last season – he can score. He scored 18 times. As long as that was a building block and not a contract-year thing this could work out well for Toronto.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:

1. Arcobello
2. Panik
3. Hyman
4. Leivo
