Matt Beleskey and Carl Soderberg are among the recent free agent signees who could disappoint fantasy owners.

If there's one thing we have learned from years of watching NHL teams hand out contracts like candy, there are always guys who are bound to disappoint compared to the money they are making. I am sure this year will be no different.

In this weeks Capped, we will take a look at four recently signed players who could end up disappointing their fantasy owners.

Matt Beleskey (BOS)

$3.8M AVV / Five years

Considering the rumours around Beleskey and the expected dollar value of his pending new contract, I am sure most fantasy GM's are quite relieved to see Beleskey sign for what many consider to be a reasonable cap hit. The real question around Beleskey is whether he will be able to reproduce the magic he found last year in Anaheim, surrounded by stud players like Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Ryan Kesler, with his new team in Boston.

To be completely honest, I am surprised he didn't stay in Anaheim. There were rumours that he had been offered more annual money but a little less term by the Ducks, and he turned it down (the rumour was that the Duck had offered him $4M for four years).

The concerns around Beleskey come from the production for the dollar. Prior to his breakout last year which saw him score 22 goals in 65 games, Beleskey had only scored 35 goals in 264 regular season games, which is equal to about 11 goals per season if you average it all out. His shooting percentage jumped from an annual average of 9.9% to 14.3% last year.
