Looking at the hottest lines in fantasy hockey from Week Two.

Lead us forwards…..

Jamie Benn – Tyler Seguin – Patrick Sharp (Dallas)

It was only a matter of time until I listed this trio. The question isn’t how to stop these guys, rather, how to limit the damage they are inevitably going to cause. As a Benn owner I am ecstatic to see him playing the way he has after his off-season surgery. What I love most as a Benn owner is his early production on the PP which has been his Achilles heel from becoming a true superstar in fantasy hockey. If Sharp can keep his spot on this line… his value will undoubtedly go up. Enjoy the ride in Dallas as it promises to be a great fantasy season.

• EV Strength Production = 11 points
• PP Production = 3 points

Mike Hoffman – Mark Stone – Kyle Turris (Ottawa)

Raise your hand if you are kicking yourself for not drafting Stone… because I am. Stone and the rest of this top line seem to be the real deal as they appear on this list for the second straight week. My concerns regarding the quality of teams they were producing against have been answered as this line managed to manhandle the Predators on Saturday night. Hoffman was removed from the top PP over the past week which is confusing considering these three have been dynamite. However, continue to roll any of the skaters on this first line as there has been no signs of slowing down.

• EV Strength Production = 12 points

Paul Stastny/Jori Lehtera – Alexander Steen – Vladimir Tarasenko (St. Louis)

I knew this line would be dynamite heading into this season. I mean anyone you put with Tarasenko is going to produce (Click here for some Tara magic). But I love the Steen and Tarasenko tandem, especially because they can kill you at even strength and on the man advantage. Stastny has looked solid on this line but so has Lehtera since Paul went down with injury last week. The point is that anyone that lines up with Tarasenko is definitely worth a look in most fantasy leagues. Therefore, roll any of the skaters on this line with confidence going forward.

• PP Production = 2 points

Anders Lee – Ryan Strome– John Tavares (NY Islanders)

I managed to snag Strome and Lee in one of my fantasy leagues once I realized Okposo had been separated from Johnny T. Boy am I happy I did that. This line has been fire in the early goings and this definitely impacts Okposo’s future with the Isles. Just as the Dallas trio, I really love the fact that these guys also play together on the PP. Tavares looks primed for another run at the Art Ross and both of his linemates will continue to reap the benefits as the season progresses. An honorable mention goes out to the second line for the Isles which is spearheaded by none other than Okposo. I would have chosen them over this line if it weren’t for the fact that this top line produces on the man advantage as well which obviously gives added value. Okposo may find himself back on the top line if he continues to play like this… or actually he may just stay put because everything looks peachy in Long Island.

Josh Bailey – Frans Nielsen – Kyle Okposo (NY Islanders)

Defend this…..

Roman Josi – Shea Weber (Nashville)

I really don’t think there is a better defensive tandem than these two. I mean they get it done in all situations as shown down below. As a Weber owner I am kind of annoyed with his slow start… but is it really slow? I mean two points in five games is not terrible. One multi-point game will correct things and put him back on pace for his usual 45-50. I think it’s the play of Josi that makes me and many other Weber owners feel annoyed. Josi has started off hot and there is a real feeling that he may just usurp Weber as the defenseman to own in Nashville if he hasn’t already. Regardless, any of these two are a solid own in fantasy going forward.

Carl Gunnarsson – Colton Parayko (St. Louis)

With the recent injury to Kevin Shattenkirk some other players have stepped up to fill the void. One of those defenseman is Parayko who was drafted in 2012 by the Blues in the third round. Colton has been nothing short of surprising as he has managed to produce handsomely over the past week and most especially on the PP (Click here to see his cannon shot). I really don’t expect anything crazy from Parayko in terms of fantasy production but he is definitely worth keeping an eye on at least until Shattenkirk returns.

• EV Strength Production = 4 points
• PP Production = 3 points

Erik Karlsson – Whoever (Ottawa)

It doesn’t really matter who lines up with Karlsson… he continues to produce at a ridiculous rate. Karlsson currently has as many points as elite forwards such as John Tavares and Jamie Benn with eight on the season. The Sens have paired Karlsson up with Marc Methot and Patrick Wiercioch over the past week. Erik has produced three points with each of them at even strength. I would not recommend picking up anyone else on the back end in Ottawa other than Karlsson. 75-80 points is not out of the question for the young swede as the top line in Ottawa looks deadly early on.
