The best plays for Daily Fantasy Hockey this Saturday, October 24, 2015.
Top Budget Plays
Centers
Travis Zajac $3,300 – Values are bumped up a bit as it seems people are catching on to the lower ranged center plays. Zajac has been a little luckier than good at times. His goal on Thursday against Andrew Hammond actually went wide but bounced off the Ottawa goalie and in. As for Saturday, New Jersey plays Buffalo and the Sabres come off a game where they gave up seven goals. The embattled center may just be a pretty good play as the Sabres penalty kill is having a tough time.
Wingers
Teemu Pulkkinen $3,000 – Well risks are still fun to take this time of year and Pulkkinen is no exception as he seems to like to light the lamp. His PDO is lights out and one might as well ride the wave while the youngster keeps scoring these goals. If he scores, he hits value. It is that simple. Detroit seems to like him a lot so expect more of the Finnish player going forward.
Defensemen
Cody Goloubef $2,900 – There is little to rejoice as far as Columbus goes. However, Golubef is a nice little value as he does not see a ton of ice time but lately he has hit value more than missing. With how the rest of the defense is playing, maybe John Tortorella gives him a little bit more of a shot. After all with the Blue Jackets at 0-8, things just have to be done differently and less conventional compared to other situations.
Goalie
Linus Ullmark $6,000 – This is one of the biggest GPP risks of the season but Ullmark was one of the best Swedish goalie prospects out there and his .932 save percentage in Rochester earned him a call up. He is believed to be the future of the Buffalo Sabres anyway so it is worth a shot with all the injuries and inconsistent goaltending that has plagued Buffalo. There are slightly better guys in the $6000 to $7000 range but this saves the most money and New Jersey might be licking their chops a bit much here.
Since we saved some money on the budget plays let’s look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.
Centers
Tyler Seguin $8,400– With the low priced value guys out of the way, we step for the highest paid forward of the night. Seguin still has that center value and his moves put the fear of god in people. The funny thing is his PDO is lower than expected (Benn’s is even lower). The duo is rolling in all phases pretty much and the worst thing Florida can hear is that the Dallas first line had an off night against Pittsburgh. It will not be an easy night for Roberto Luongo and the Florida Panthers.
Wingers
Jamie Benn $7,700 – This is a fun pick considering that the winger was slowed down a bit in that Pittsburgh win which was one odd game for fantasy. He has three power play points and six goals overall on the year. It is fun watching him and Patrick Sharp decoy so much that Benn winds up wide open far too often. A Florida matchup never hurts here and one of the main reasons why Dallas has been so good is simply Benn and his on ice leadership. Those DFS points are just so consistent.
Defensemen
Brent Burns $6,000 – Oh Burns has seriously had some awful luck and yet he is still averaging four DraftKings points a night. That must mean he is getting his points from somewhere. Consider he is averaging nearly five shots a night so far this year and that may be a hint. He is also blocking more shots than usual it seems. The 97.2 PDO is intriguing enough and Carolina could be the right opponent for the defenseman to get going. Owners could use a Burns blast or two.
Goalie
Carey Price $8,400 – Montreal is 8-0-0 and until they lose you have to spend up in GPP’s to get Price who is playing even better than last year where he took home enough hardware to fill a room. Price has given up a paltry six goals in six games, has a .966 save percentage, and two shutouts already. Toronto does not exactly strike fear in the hearts of anyone so no one should be really surprised that the Vegas line leans heavily on Price on this night.
