Injury updates on Connor McDavid, Pavel Datsyuk, Zach Parise, Carey Price, Ondrej Palat and more…

With injuries piling up and return dates being marked on fantasy hockey player’s calendars, let’s take a look at the latest injury news in the past week.

Anaheim Ducks: Jiri Sekac– Sekac sprained his ankle and has been placed on injured reserve.

Arizona Coyotes: Antoine Vermette– Vermette missed Monday’s game due to a lower-body injury but was able to play in Tuesday’s game against the Kings.

Arizona Coyotes: Nicklas Grossman– Grossman has been placed on injured reserved after suffering a lower-body injury against the Rangers.

Boson Bruins: Chris Kelly– Kelly fractured his femur and will be out for six to eight months.

Boston Bruins: David Pastrnak- Pastrnak has missed the last four games with a bruised foot and is considered day-to-day.

Buffalo Sabres: Evander Kane– Kane is still at least two weeks away from returning.

Buffalo Sabres: Zach Bogosian– There is still no timetable for Bogosian’s return but he’s not going on Buffalo’s road trip so at the very least, he’ll be out for Thursday’s game.

Calgary Flames: Jonas Hiller– Hiller has been placed on injured reserve but is still considered day-to-day.

Chicago Blackhawks: Artem Anisimov– While Anisimov left Friday’s game early because of a lower-body injury, he played in Sunday’s game and recorded two points.

Chicago Blackhawks: Marian Hossa– Hossa missed the previous three games because of a lower-body injury but returned to the lineup Sunday against Edmonton and played 19 minutes.

Columbus Blue Jackets: David Clarkson– Clarkson has been placed on injured reserve because of a lower-body injury he sustained while playing against San Jose.

Colorado Avalanche: Alex Tanguay– Tanguay injured his knee while playing against the Rangers on Friday and will be out for an “extended period”.  While Tanguay has not been a great fantasy asset this season; his injury should benefit Matt Duchene and Nathan MacKinnon. During Tuesday’s game, Gabriel Landeskog moved up to Duchene and MacKinnon’s line and Duchene responded with two goals. Duchene has been heating up lately and the addition of Landeskog on his line should only help him. Tanguay’s injury also helps MacKinnon because MacKinnon should feel the benefit of Landeskog on his line too. MacKinnon was able to assist on Duchene’s first goal during Tuesday’s game.

Dallas Stars: Antoine Roussel– Roussel has missed the past two games because of an upper-body injury but is ready to play and participated in Tuesday’s game.

Detroit Red Wings: Mike Green– Green returned from his injury on Sunday night and even though Detroit lost 4-1, he was credited with an assist in almost 26 minutes of ice time and registered 3 shots on goal.

Detroit Red Wings: Pavel Datsyuk– While Datsyuk is still recovering from his ankle surgery, he is getting closer to returning. He may be back in the lineup in at least a week. Datsyuk returning to the lineup definitely helps the Red Wings and it looks like he’ll be playing next to Dylan Larkin and Henrik Zetterberg. This increases Larkin’s value and should make it easier for him to produce. Justin Abdelkader has been playing on the Zetterberg and Larkin line so when Datsyuk makes his return, Abdelkader will get pushed down to the third line.

Edmonton Oilers: Connor McDavid– On November 3 against the Flyers, McDavid left the game after he broke his clavicle. While there isn’t an exact timeframe where he’ll be injured, McDavid will be out for “months” and has been placed on injured reserve. McDavid’s injury severely hurts his value in one-year fantasy hockey leagues   but only slightly lowers his value a little in keeper leagues. He might be available in your fantasy league for a discounted price if his owner is looking to make a run for the playoffs. Now that Benoit Pouliot and Nail Yakupov won’t be playing with McDavid, it will obviously be more difficult for them to sustain their production.

Edmonton Oilers: Jordan Eberle– Eberle played in his first game of the year on Friday and while he didn’t score, he managed to get an assist during Sunday’s loss against Chicago.

Minnesota Wild: Zach Parise– Parise suffered a sprained right MCL against the Nashville Predators and will be out of action for at least two weeks. Parise’s injury hurts the Wild because he’s been scoring a lot of the Wild’s goals but his injury should benefit Charlie Coyle. During Saturday’s game against Tampa, Coyle was given the opportunity to take Parise’s spot on the top line with Mikael Granlund and Jason Pominville. In his first game on the top line, Coyle played about three more minutes than he usually does. Coyle could make a good short-term add for fantasy teams while Parise is hurt if he clicks with Granlund and Pominville.

Montreal Canadiens: Carey Price– Price is still injured and will miss the next few games. It is unknown how serious the injury is. The Canadiens have been one of the NHL’s best teams and so far, they haven’t needed Price. Mike Condon has been spectacular during Price’s absence and has been giving the Canadiens and fantasy owners quality starts. In his last five games, Condon has not given up more than two goals or has had a save percentage under .925. With Price injured for a few more games, Condon should be able to give fantasy owners a few more great starts and more wins.

Nashville Predators: Eric Nystrom– Nystrom has missed the last three games with an upper-body injury and has been moved onto injured reserve.

Nashville Predators: Carter Hutton- Hutton has been placed on injured reserve because of an upper-body injury.

New Jersey Devils: Patrik Elias– There has been no updates on Elias’s injury. He is still on injured reserve.

New York Rangers: Rick Nash– During practice, Nash hurt his back while participating in a shooting drill. It doesn’t seem to be anything too serious because he played in Tuesday’s game.

Ottawa Senators: Clarke MacArthur– No recent news on MacArthur’s concussion but he’s still a while away from returning.

 Ottawa Senators: Cody Ceci– Ceci was able to play Tuesday night after suffering from a lower-body injury against the Winnipeg Jets.

Philadelphia Flyers: Evgeny Medvedev- Medvedev missed Tuesday’s game against Colorado because of an upper-body injury and is still considered day-to-day. This was his fifth consecutive game missed.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Pascal Dupuis– After a precautionary trip to the hospital, Dupuis is likely to play against Montreal.

San Jose Sharks: Ben Smith– Smith didn’t play in San Jose’s game on Tuesday because of an upper-body injury.

St. Louis Blues: Steve Ott– Ott has not gone on the Blue’s road trip so he will miss Thursday’s game.

St. Louis Blues: Brian Elliott– Elliot was not seriously injured in a game against Chicago and was able to backup Allen on Saturday so he should be able to play in future games.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Ondrej Palat– Palat was injured Saturday while versing the Wild and will not be able to play for the next three to five weeks. With Palat is injured for at least three weeks, there will be an open spot in the top-six for another Lightning forward to grab. Killorn played with Tyler Johnson and Nikita Kucherov on Tuesday and will be given a great opportunity to produce on that line.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Jonathan Drouin– Drouin returned to the lineup on Saturday and skated a little over 12 minutes.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Andrei Vasilevskiy– After being sent to the minors on a conditioning stint, Vasilevskiy has returned to the NHL and has already played in a few games. Vasilevskiy returning from injury obviously improves his fantasy value but also lowers Bishop’s value. While Bishop is still considered the Lightning’s starting goalie, Vasilevskiy is a very talented player and should be able to steal some starts. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tampa even splits starts between him and Bishop. Vasilevskiy is also playing for a great team and should be able to get a good chunk of wins.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Jonathan Bernier– Bernier is still considered day-to-day but will travel with the Leafs.

Winnipeg Jets: Nic Petan- Even though Petan didn’t play on Saturday, he played in Tuesday’s game and seems to be better.
