Cheap Players for Daily Fantasy Hockey – November 14

The best plays for daily fantasy hockey on November 14, 2015.

Top Budget Plays

Centers

Leon Draisaitl $3,400 – Value is always found in unexpected places on a large Saturday slate. Whether you are playing the all day or just night schedule of games, Draisaitl keeps on keeping on with the first line. Playing with Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle never hurts. Yes Draisaitl had cooled off for a couple games but has heated right back up in his last two. Why would you not play him at his price point. It is so low that it really is insane.

Wingers

Brett Connolly $3,300 – Yes the forward may not get top line time all the time but expect him to play some top six shifts with Patrice Bergeron at times. It will depend on score situation but this is worth the shot at the price. After all, these are budget plays so why not at least take a shot on a guy with an excellent wrister. He paid off on Thursday night and might just again on Saturday.

Defensemen

Jared Spurgeon $4,100 – Please note that Darnell Nurse is a great honorable mention here and though Spurgeon’s salary has climbed some, it is a good enough play given budgetary relief for defenseman. He has even managed to provide a few assists in the last week or so which has boosted his point potential even in this road game. The defenseman blocks enough shots and gets just enough pucks on net to make this a sneaky play for those looking to save dollars.

Goalie

Linus Ullmark $6,300 – At this juncture, you have to play him again. Why not! Consider that Buffalo has weirdly won eight of their last ten games against San Jose and it just compels you to hit the shiny red button! The previous Saturday he stopped 35 of 37 shots for the win. Who knows what he might do on this Saturday. For the price, you cannot really go wrong and it saves you lots of money to go high budget on a very big Saturday evening slate. So what are you waiting for?

Since we saved some money on the budget plays let’s look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.

Centers

Matt Duchene $5,300 – This is crazy enough that it might just work. Duchene has been streaking the last six games and there is little reason that he cannot do it again. He is the perfect mini stack with one of his wingers (really either or will do). There were some early season doubts about just what the heck was going on with him but currently those and the trade rumors have been squashed. Now it is all about making up for lost time and Duchene is filling out categories very well in DFS right now.

Wingers

Patrick Kane $8,400 – Kane has points in eleven straight games going into Saturday night’s tilt against St. Louis and the last time these two teams met, they combined for eleven goals. That is not a misprint. The Blues have a difficult time slowing down the speedy dynamo with hands of silk. His sidekick Artemi Panarin has gone from top budget play to middle of the DraftKings road in just a few weeks. Now that is a meteoric stock rise in fantasy!

Defenseman

John Klingberg $5,300 – Klingberg may not be super high priced but he is going to get there soon enough with a point a game pace over his first 16 games played. After the first few games there was some panic when he looked to be in a bit of a sophomore slump. That has been blown out the window! As he gains more and more minutes played against top level competition, the young Swede has only become better and better at what he does. If he shoots more, he really could be elite now!

Goalie

Cory Schneider $6,900 – Let’s end this by going a little off the reservation and remind people that New Jersey has a 16-3-2 home road against Pittsburgh in their last 21 home games. Schneider has been solid in net all year and really without the benefit of much in the way of defensive help at times. The shots may be a bit suppressed at times but the chances are not. Pittsburgh comes in on an immense roll but off playing a nasty Columbus team the night before. This might work!
