Lining Up – Week Seven

The hottest lines in Fantasy Hockey for Week Seven.

Lead us forwards…..

Jannik HansenDaniel SedinHenrik Sedin (Vancouver)

The Sedin twins seem to be back as they have wreaked havoc over the past week. Unfortunately for the Canucks this hasn’t translated to wins. Daniel Sedin was named second star of the week as he amassed six points, four of which were goals. Hansen hasn’t been too bad on the top line but we all know that slot is a revolving door and it will remain that way for the remainder of the season. As a Sedin owner you know what you’re getting and that’s consistency. You could expect close to a point per game pace down the stretch and solid PP production.

  • EV Strength Production = 7 points

Brock NelsonKyle OkposoJohn Tavares (New York Islanders)

It took a little longer than I expected but Okposo has found his way back to the top line. I drafted Okposo in many of my leagues as I expected big things from him as he is in a contract year. Okposo showed that he can produce without Tavares as he has 18 points in 21 games this season. If you held onto Okposo while he was seeing time away from Johnny T… well done. He should see an uptick in production now that he has been reunited with Tavares but his current pace is pretty much in line with what we would expect from him. Barring an injury, Okposo could set a career high in points this year and I would definitely try to acquire him in most standard leagues. Nelson has been on a tear with nine points in his past 10 games. What is most impressive about his nine points is that they all came at even strength as Nelson has yet to notch a point on the PP this season.

  • EV Strength Production = 8 points

Derick BrassardRick NashMats Zuccarello (New York Rangers)

This is a prime example of why you don’t bench your horses. Nash has been having a relatively quiet season by his standards. Quiet enough for many owners to even consider benching him on a matchup basis. Well if you benched Nash this past week when the Rangers visited the Panthers than you’re definitely kicking yourself as he notched a hat-trick in that game. Nash has turned it on as of late but the real talk of this line is Zuccarello who is having a breakout year. Mats currently has 21 points and looks better than ever coming off his skull fracture. Although he won’t keep that pace up he will set career highs this year and easily top 60 points. The Rangers have a favorable schedule in the upcoming week as noted in Looking Ahead so roll any piece of this line with confidence.

  • EV Strength Production = 9 points
  • PP Production = 2 points

Joonas DonskoiPatrick MarleauJoel Ward (San Jose)

Just when we thought he was done Ward goes and notches three points in his last two games. This line has been a pleasant surprise for the Sharks. Donskoi is riding a four-game point streak and Marleau has four points in his last four games. It’s quite clear that this line is clicking at the moment. However, the upcoming schedule for the Sharks is unfavorable with only two games in the coming week as noted in Looking Ahead. Ward should regress soon and the return of Logan Couture will ensure that happens. Donskoi is not fantasy relevant in one year leagues. As for Marleau, he should end up at the 60 point mark but his days of 30 goal scoring are well behind him.

Defend this…..

Brent BurnsPaul Martin (San Jose)

Burns has been a man on fire this past week as he recorded three goals and five points. He did most of his damage on the PP but he has a knack for scoring goals at even strength with his bomb of a shot. I would not recommend using Martin in any league format or anyone else really on the Sharks back end. Burns is the man in San Jose so enjoy his TOI as it will always be plentiful.

  • EV Production = 2 points

Justin FaulkNoah Hanifin (Carolina)

Faulk has been a monster this year in fantasy aside from his horrendous minus-12 rating. Justin currently leads the entire NHL in PPG with a whopping eight. That puts him ahead of stud forwards like Jamie Benn and Steven Stamkos! What is even more impressive is he’s doing this on a Hurricanes team that is far from high powered offensively. Hanifin has been getting some time on the top PP with Faulk. Keep an eye on this situation as anyone being paired up with Faulk could see an uptick in production with the way he has played as of late.

  • EV Strength Production = 5 points
  • PP Production = 2 points

Kevin ShattenkirkColton Parayko (St. Louis)

Captain Kirk is back and in full effect as he received third star for the NHL this past week. Shattenkirk is currently on a six-game point streak in which he has totalled eight points. What is most impressive is Kevin actually produced all his points with pretty much every defenseman on the team. Shatty is paired up with just about everyone and it’s become apparent that it doesn’t matter who he plays with as he will put up points at will. The pairing listed above is the most intriguing one for me as I am a huge Parayko fan. Point is, Shattenkirk is a stud so enjoy his production if you own him.

  • EV Strength Production = 1 point
