Cheap Players for Daily Fantasy Hockey: February 6, 2016

Why Seguin will have a ball and other great plays for Daily Fantasy Hockey.

Top Budget Plays

Centers

Robby Fabbri $3,100 – We are taking a huge risk off the bat this Saturday because though Fabbri has six points in his last nine games, he has several bagels in the shots on goal department. He must hit the net more as his game is just more effective when the center is engaged. Yes, Fabbri is young and going to have those down moments but he has top six potential but must show more than others at this juncture. Minnesota has shown to be quite vulnerable on the road of late and Fabbri won’t draw top assignments against him which is a huge plus.

Wingers

Jonathan Donskoi $3,600 – This is a sign to keep taking the risks as Donskoi has eight points in his last 10 games despite playing mostly bottom six minutes. He has a nose for the net but also possesses solid on ice vision. His passing is underrated in most circles and has seen a little time in the top six where he does not look all that out of place in the least. The forward is versatile enough to play in all special teams situations which should make him a decent enough play against Nashville who can be out grinded.

Defensemen

Brian Campbell $3,500 – Though Campbell has been a little off the past few games, he did recently enjoy a four-game points streak. His price makes him attractive enough against a Pittsburgh team that can give up some goals. While many will be on Aaron Ekblad, Campbell has shown the ability to hit value more often over the last ten to twelve games. Lowered expectations can truly lead to better results elsewhere.

Goalie

Robin Lehner $6,900 – This is the cheap play more based on Boston’s ability to fire shots on net without winning at home. The Bruins are a few games under .500 there yet ten over on the road. It is enough of a sample size to try and sneak Lehner in. Also, the last time these two teams played, Buffalo turned on the jets in the third period and wound up scoring five unanswered tallies including a four-point night from Jack Eichel. For the most part, Lehner has fared well so far and has piled up the quality starts.

Since we saved some money on the budget plays let’s look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.

Centers

Tyler Seguin $8,500 – Dallas was the beneficiary of a very porous Winnipeg defense on Tuesday and Chicago can give up their fair share of goals on the road. This is a game that Dallas has to have and although Seguin has fallen off some of late, the period after the All-Star Break sets up well for him and Saturday is no exception. Seguin has been snake bitten on the man advantage over the last month. That is due to end soon.

Wingers

Patrick Kane $8,700 – Though Jamie Benn will make a great choice for mini-stacks and even line stacks, we have to consider the Patrick Kane mini stack as well to maximize exposure for a game that could feature a high amount of goals. Kane is the only player on pace for 100 points this year and already has a 30-30 season. He is a target who cannot be faded on a night like this. These are two teams that are desperate for points and Dallas wants to get back to the form they showed early. This could play right into the hands of Kane.

Defenseman

Erik Karlsson $7,500 – There is really little or no explanation needed here. Toronto is on the road to nowhere and though they play well against Ottawa, it still does not matter as Karlsson just seems to get his points against the Maple Leafs. Karlsson’s price is still reasonable enough for now that you can get value on a night like Saturday. Brent Burns and Karlsson are your high end defensemen as always. If you can get Karlsson in against a Toronto team that can give up goals, it will help in your cash games especially.

Goalie

Ryan Miller $7,100 – This is a risk because of how Calgary’s first line is rolling but the Flames are a different team away from home. Miller has been very good for Vancouver this year in spite of the team’s troubles of scoring consistently. The Canucks oddly match up well against the Flames and the possibility of Sedin twins’ magic may be enough to buoy Miller into a possible win situation.
