The latest injury information we could dig up on Subban, Kucherov, Markov, Green, Howard and more…

The Big Guns (>80% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

P.K. SubbanOne of the bigger stories this week, an upper body injury has been keeping All-Star defensemen Suby Dooby Doo out of the Predators’ lineup. An exact timetable hasn’t yet been revealed for Subban’s return (with my luck it’ll be announced right after I post this), but the coaching staff hopes to have him back before the end of the month. I would expect him to sit out Thursday’s game against the Kings, giving him an extended rest into the Christmas break.

David PastrnakSome inconvenient news for the immediate future if you own Pasta (I personally make my own.) He’ll miss the next few games after undergoing elbow surgery. David Backes had the same procedure done and only missed 5 games, so don’t worry too much. After an amazing start to the season (26 points in 27 games), don’t expect this “injury” to slow him down.

Rick NashRick Nash. Nick? Rash? Nope. Groin. Doesn’t seem to be too serious but he was slated to miss three games. It seemed like Nash was improving on an underwhelming 2015-16 campaign, but injuries have been a real pain, for both him and his fantasy hockey owners.

Artem Anisimov“It’s just a hot start, there’s no we he can sustain these numbers.” But 32 games in and 27 points, boy did he prove us wrong. Unfortunately, an upper-body injury could keep this surprise stud out of the lineup against the Avalanche on Friday night. He’s day to day at this point, so keep an eye on Friday’s starting lineups.

Corey CrawfordNo more Darling, no more Darling, no more Darling (clementine)? If everything goes as planned, Crawford will start Friday against Colorado. Scott Darling has been playing well, allowing the Blackhawks to pick up some wins, but also allowing quite a few goals recently. Since Crawford is coming back from an appendectomy, and not a more serious injury that can be aggravated, I would expect Crawford to start before the Christmas break.

Ben Bishop The Lightning netminder seemed to suffer a lower body injury in Tuesday night’s game against the Red Wings. With a couple of exceptions (3 GA to Calgary, 6 GA to Vancouver), Bishop has been playing very well recently, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you Bishop owners that this doesn’t end up being long term.

Nikita KucherovMy heart goes out to Lightning fans right now. Steven Stamkos. Ondrej Palat. Possibly Ben Bishop? And add the Russian superstar to that list. It doesn’t seem like Kucherov will play before the Christmas break, but hopefully Santa brings you some good news!

Kris LetangThis one has to be expected. Outstanding fantasy hockey defensemen, but you can’t have Kris Letang without injuries. A lower body injury will keep the Penguins defenseman out of the lineup for the next couple of weeks. If someone hasn’t already snagged Justin Schultz in your league, his spot on that deadly Penguins power play makes him a good option.

Alex Pietrangelo Not much known about this one, other than the fact that he’s sick. I’m sick too, but you don’t see anyone writing articles about me… Hopefully this isn’t too serious and he’s back in the next couple of games.

The Second Liners (50%-80% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

Andrei MarkovA lower-body injury that resulted in Markov’s early departure from Saturday night’s game against the Capitals also kept him out of the lineup Tuesday against the Ducks. Coach Michel Therrien expected him to return against Anaheim, so this doesn’t seem to be long term. However, the Canadiens defensemen just celebrated his 38th birthday, so his body isn’t what it used to be.

Patrick SharpHe’s chugging his way along, making progress, but still not ready to play. Injuries have only allowed Sharp to play 11 games so far this year (in which he has two points). You really shouldn’t be expecting too much from him at this point, it might be time to cut bait if you make up part of his 60% ownership.

Jimmy HowardAlthough he had a stellar start to the season, he hasn’t been very good since returning from injury. He was injured in Tuesday night’s game against the Lightning, and seemed to be in a considerable amount of pain. No word yet on a timetable for his return, but keep an eye on Petr Mrazek if Howard is out long term.

Mike GreenAfter a quietly productive start to the season, it seems like we’ll have to wait until after Christmas to see Green back in action. He suffered a lower body injury Saturday night against Anaheim, and Coach Blashill doesn’t think he’ll be ready for Friday’s game against the Panthers.

The Depth Guys (20%-50% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

Andrew Shaw–  The Montreal Canadiens have been experiencing some awful luck in the injury department, so it only makes sense that Andrew Shaw would go down as well. With a concussion. Shaw wasn’t really someone that the Habs relied on for offense, but his peripheral stats will be a big loss to the team’s two-way game.

Ondrej PalatSkating in a non contact jersey. I wouldn’t expect him to be back before the Christmas break. Wouldn't make sense to rush him for just one game.

The Mr. Irrelevants (<20% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

Tyler BozakI almost feel bad listing him as Mr. Irrelevant, but judging by his fantasy ownership – the youth have definitely taken over in Toronto. Bozak is currently day to day with a lower-body injury.

    LOL, Nick Rash…..frickin’ hilarious.

I’m out of the running in my $ league, so I just traded several short term contracts to a contender, for Kucherov’s 5-year deal. It’s roto, so he can’t afford to have Kuch out for another two weeks.
