What are your thoughts on DeAngelo?

Good chance to put up 40-50 points annually?

  2. Paul Switzer 2017-04-06 at 10:36

Ville Pokka is very overrated. 84?

    • Dobber 2017-04-06 at 10:49

Maybe. The new list is out in a day or two. It’s hard comparing a 35-year-old whose helping right now but with minimal upside, to an 18-year-old middle-draft pick with a good future, to a 23-year-old prospect on the cusp of making a high-scoring team. Know what I mean? Try putting THAT into a formula lol

      • Paul Switzer 2017-04-06 at 18:13

True, but Pokka shouldn’t be ranked ahead of Forsling. Pokka is not getting a sniff with the Blackhawks while the team had Forsling play 36 games with the Hawks. With the Hawks resting dmen tonight they have called up Forsling not Pokka. Plus, Forsling is 2 years younger than Pokka. I understand it’s hard to rank all these guys but Pokka is a lot closer to getting trading than getting a shot with the Hawks.

        • Dobber 2017-04-06 at 22:10

I believe he’s not ahead of Forsling. But you’ll see that tomorrow when the updated rankings are up.
That being said, +/-5.0 rating points are considered equal value.

          • Dobber 2017-04-06 at 22:11

Getting traded, by the way, would shoot Pokka ahead of Forsling because Forsling would remain buried while Pokka gets freed. Your ‘will be traded’ argument actually hurts your case a bit

          • Paul Switzer 2017-04-07 at 04:46

It doesn’t hurt my case at all. IF Pokka is traded then his ranking goes up. Currently, he is overrated because of his position on the depth chart with the Blackhawks.

          • Dobber 2017-04-07 at 06:49

Sorry, I thought you used his probable trade as a reason why he should be lower ranked than Forsling. The opposite would be true. How do you like today’s update?

          • Paul Switzer 2017-04-07 at 07:52

I don’t think Pokka even belongs in the top 100. I would easily take Stecher or Larsson over him. I just haven’t seen much from Pokka and I know the Hawks are not very high on him based on their actions.

          • Dobber 2017-04-07 at 08:28

What are you talking about? They gave up Nick Leddy to get him, so even if he’s a bust they’ll give him a million opportunities to turn things around – that’s just smart asset management. All teams do it. If they trade for a player and that player sucks, they keep playing that player anyway. You see it all the time.
He’s had one poor season, but I’ll let him turn 24 before even remotely passing judgment.
How do you like today’s update? (read the rules)

          • Paul Switzer 2017-04-07 at 17:53

I know exactly what the Hawks gave up to get Pokka and I applauded the trade at the time. It was good asset management since the Hawks were able to get a decent prospect when everyone knew they had to trade Leddy for cap purposes. However, since that trade Pokka has not improved much for anyone to get excited about. And if you’ve paid attention to how the Hawks have treated prospects in this regime you’d know the Hawks are not high on Pokka. It doesn’t matter that they traded Leddy for him. It doesn’t matter what other teams do. The Hawks will cut bait on players if they don’t fit their team or they are just not high on them. They are treating Pokka the same way they treated Mark McNeil and he was a 1st round draft pick. On the other hand it is clear both through their words and actions that the Hawks are high on Forsling. Maybe a skeptic says the Hawks have treated Forsling the way they have this season because they didn’t want him to stay in Sweden but the Hawks are not known to play those kind of games.

What do I think of the rankings? Like I already wrote, Pokka should not be in the top 100. If you feel the need to have a Blackhawk prospect in the top 100, it is definitely Forsling. And yes I know about your rating of 5 pts within each other. But in this case we are talking about similarly aged dmen NOT a 22-year old versus a 32-year old. I would hope that players’ rankings that are in the same stage of their career could be used as a comparison. But overall, I don’t think Pokka is in the same conversation as Stecher and Larsson regardless as to how many points separate them in your rankings.

Fair opinion. I hope you respect mine.
