Top Budget Plays

Centers

Radek Faksa $3600 – The center is a decent play at the least. However, playing against the Chicago Blackhawks may set up very good as the center will draw depth Chicago match-ups which are below Corsi relative. He is going to get decent opportunities. Faksa should be playing more minutes and has picked it up again with four goals and an assist in the last two contests. Chicago does not have Corey Crawford in net due to an injury so Dallas ownership will be elevated. Faksa, however, may still be a little lesser owned.

Wingers

Loui Eriksson $3300 – Keep in mind that Eriksson is taking full advantage of his increased role with the Sedin Twins. He had points in his last three games and could be facing a tired Toronto team. Do not expect as much power play time but his accelerations have been better of late. Brandon Perlini and even Max Domi are viable options. There are several value options just in this game alone as the expected goals for is around six. Even Daniel Sedin is still a possibility.

Defensemen

Josh Manson $3300 –Nashville could fire a lot of shots on net and a guy like Manson carries value. He can block sometimes 3-4 shots a night and with his increased role, Manson stands an increased chance to get a point sometime during this contest. Injuries and trades are sometimes a good thing and the Sami Vatanen trade offers up a potential slight increase in man advantage time. Again, shots and blocked shots plus a low price could be a recipe for a contrarian punt play on Saturday night.

Goalie

Scott Wedgewood $6900 – This is a dangerous GPP play but Arizona gets a New Jersey team that can fire shots on net (over 32 per 60 on the road). The Devils are a better team away from home in the early going. Yes, they are not the rested squad but most everyone will be on New Jersey. Arizona represents a chance to gold in especially turbo or later slates. Even the main might be worth a shot.

Since we saved some money on the budget plays let’s look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.

Centers

Sean Monahan $6900 – People will run to this as it will be a chalky play that still has to be used in quite a few lineups. The center has a solid matchup against Edmonton’s Laurent Brossoit (believed to be the probable goalie). Monahan has slumped a bit in his previous three games but is still above a point a game for the season. Edmonton has a bottom five penalty kill and allows the tenth most points to center on DraftKings. The Oilers will have some contrarian value as this game could be higher scoring than expected. Expected goals is over six combined.

Wingers

Nikita Kucherov $7900 – While the winger has not had a goal in six games, he does have three assists while still generating top ten high danger chances. A regression had to come and it bit hard. However, Tampa Bay is facing a San Jose team that is due for a regression of their own. This will be a chalk play and yet 36 points in 25 games is convincing enough. Keep in mind that the second Lightning line will be rather attractive on Saturday night for price relief (far less than that near $21,000 price tag). Options like Johnny Gaudreau and Taylor Hall have to be considered among others.

Defenseman

John Klingberg $5700 – Again this could be heavily owned, but Klingberg has moderate to high point potential on Saturday. Chicago may be forced to start JF Berube on Saturday. The Blackhawks are in this midst of a five game in seven-night stretch. Dallas has strong numbers at home with a team total of 3.5 very likely. Dallas’s power play has slid back from 30% in recent weeks, but they still are among the top five or six in chances per power play. Having the quarterback to that man advantage helps.

Goalie

Carey Price $8000 – There may be better choices, but this has potential to work well. Detroit is on a six-game losing streak and just seems lost when it comes even to simple decision making from coaching down to the players. It was seen too often on Thursday night when Montreal scored six goals in Detroit. The Red Wings are a low to mid-event team, however. Price probably should be used only in cash games. It is a nice way of saying the goalie may only face 25-28 shots. Some will go to Pekka Rinne but his price tag is the highest on the slate.
