Daily Saturday Picks – January 6

Happy 2018 folks! Here's hoping that you're sticking with whatever resolutions you made, it's not easy but it gets easier! On to hockey… I was able to catch a few Detroit games this week and was really impressed with the play of Andreas Athanasiou. Every time he was on the ice, he stood out. Whether it's just his speed, or his tenacity, I sure for one did not think much of him prior to this week. That's not to say I'll be looking to pick him up in my leagues, but he sure is fun to watch. Another player that stood out to me, at least on Friday, was Shane Prince. He was constantly battling in the offensive zone, creating space for other players and trying to make plays. It's things like this that make me wonder how many other non fantasy relevant players we miss out on simply because we're unable to watch every game.

A few thoughts:

·         Does Friday's 4 point performance mark the turn around we've all been waiting for from Sidney Crosby?

·         Wish Nashville going 4-4-2 in their last 10, and Pekka Rinne only having 2 wins in his last 6 starts, I'm expecting to see a lot more of Juuse Saros

·         Some teams I wouldn't be surprised to miss the playoffs this year: Columbus, Chicago, and San Jose

Anyways, on to today's games:

Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.
