Top 200 Fantasy Prospect Forwards – February 2018

Dobber

2018-02-12

Here are the Top 200 prospect forwards to own in your points-only fantasy hockey keeper league, February edition!

As always, players within +/-5.0 rating points of each other should be considered equal and at that point would depend on your team needs (NHL-ready but lower upside, or several years away with high upside) and personal biases. The top defensemen list will be out Tuesday. Click any name to be taken to their DobberProspects scouting profile.

I rarely post on these but Strome #1? we’re still holding out hope for this guy??

    • Dobber 2018-02-12 at 10:33

I don’t understand…he’s 20 years old and as an AHL rookie he has 42 points in just 35 AHL games. And on top of that he’s actually gotten into the NHL lineup a few times? I’d say that’s pretty phenomenal

      • Jason 2018-02-12 at 21:48

Well…your own prospects writer has him as the 3rd best prospect on the Coyotes. Due to lack of foot speed. And he’s not alone in that thought.

        • Dobber 2018-02-12 at 21:54

If you value his opinion over mine, then that’s your prerogative. In 2028 we’ll reconvene and see who is right.

  2. hard working american 2018-02-12 at 15:49

Why has Hischier “graduated” from the list but Patrick, Bratt, Bjorkstrand, Vrana, etc have not?

    • Dobber 2018-02-12 at 21:57

In the end it’s just when I’m convinced that the player will not be sent down to the minors, 100% convinced. Bratt I’m 99%. Vrana I’m 95%, Bjorkstrand I’m 90% and Patrick I’m 85% sure he won’t be sent down. Patrick has really come along lately.

  3. Karl Paquette 2018-02-16 at 19:52

Wheres Ho Sang? He hasn’t graduated after 20 games in the bigs has he?? Did I miss him (looked thrice). hes not below 200 is he???

  4. Karl Paquette 2018-02-16 at 19:54

Omg- I see him lol! 24- noice!!

  5. Jay.P 2018-02-21 at 08:28

Andreas Johnsson at #127???? 5th in AHL points and 2nd in goals. Cmon dogg.

    • Dobber 2018-02-21 at 08:33

I’m still not interested in him. But he’s moving up.
FYI last year Nicklas Jensen was 2nd in goals, Taylor Beck was 5th in points. Own them?
Year before that – Chris Bourque was 2nd in goals, Dustin Jeffrey was 5th in points.
Teemu Pulkkinen was 1st in goals in 2014-15…
Anyway, Johnsson is doing fine, but 127th on this list is about right. Sure, some players above him could be below…but some players below him could be above. So 127 is good for me.

      • YowTrader 2018-03-01 at 21:56

What a burn. Just shows how the Dobber is doing his research.

      • Jay.P 2018-03-02 at 10:38

I hear you, i do. But there are not 126 other forwards on this list I’d rather have. No disrespect, just my opinion. Keep up the good work

        • Dobber 2018-03-02 at 10:58

That’s what the +/-5.0 comes into play. He moves as high as 88 based on personal needs/opinion/bias.
But let me just say that what he’s done over the past month has moved him into the Top 90 (and the+/-5.0 flexibility gets him into the Top 60).
Patience always pays off, jumping the gun can result in faulty valuations. I think he’s moving up steadily and earning every bit of it.

          • Jay.P 2018-03-02 at 11:05

Yea, not too shabby for a 7th rounder. Hockey has turned into such a young mans league over the past decade or so.

  6. Eric Desjardins 2018-03-09 at 11:30

Half of the top 10 doesn’t derserve to be there: Strome, Heinen, Bratt, Labanc, Bjorkstrand. They are good even maybe top 20.

    • Dobber 2018-03-09 at 13:20

This is a month old. Why don’t you wait until tomorrow for the newest one and comment on that one?
PS – Heinen, Bratt, Labanc and Bjorkstrand are actually IN the NHL and helping out fantasy teams right now – how can a question mark prospect top that?
PPS – Strome is 4th in THN’s Future Watch. The guy is 20 years old and dominating the AHL. Career path compares to Spezza.
PPPS – The NHL and the Flyers miss you, Eric!
