Top 100 Roto Players – April 2018

2018-04-16

Welcome back to the Top 100 Rotisserie.

With the regular season now behind us, congratulations to all those who won their respective Fantasy leagues. Best to not let that hangover linger too long – as they say, there is no rest for the wicked!

In this makeover, the categories included are G, A, PIM, PPP, Hits, Blocks, GWG and SOG. Be reminded that this is NOT a points-only ranking, it is a Roto Ranking geared towards Rotisserie and Head-to-Head leagues. This list is also geared towards winning now, not next year or the year after. Now.

Much like Mike McMillan’s edition in November, player values are weighted over the last three seasons to help capture year-to-year consistency. It also accounts for injuries and per game ratios.

With Simmonds declining totals, why is he still rated so high?

Hi Ommmzzz! While Simmonds did take a dip in PIM and SOG, he still holds the value of finishing 4th and 7th overall over the two previous seasons. He also missed seven games. Not game changing, but enough to peg him down. This past season might be the start of a trending decline for Simmonds in Roto, but he can also be a sleeper to bounce back. I would be very happy to draft Simmonds in the late second, early third round of a Roto draft.

Take ’em for their sure-fire peripherals, and cross your fingers they end up scoring as well!

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – The Wilkes-Jarry Penguins

Elizabeth and Lewis are back to take listeners through a host of power play changes that are giving managers the opportunity to get exposure to great players off the waiver wire, including Philly, Jersey, and Tampa talk. They also cover Jarry’s AHL demotion, Cooley’s ascension to the top-line and powerplay, and injuries to Tavares and Hintz. The duo wrap up with some hot and cold streak deep dives, including discussion of the Red Wings crazy powerplay success in the last ten games, whether Erik Gustafsson is rosterable or an overperforming illusion, Fantilli’s continued success, Merilainen as Hamburglar 2.0, and whether Schenn’s success and Neighbours’ lack thereof are likely to continue.
