ROUND 3 – DobberHockey Experts Panel – NHL Playoffs 2018

Mario Prata

2018-05-11

The DobberHockey writers select their winners for the 2018 Conference Finals.

The second round of Stanley Cup play wasn't kind to many prognasticators around the hockey world if we're to abide by DobberHockey's predictions as a barometer. As a group, the panel combined for a laborious 1-3 record after posting a 6-2 log in the first round of action. In fact, only one member of the experts panel, Brad Phillips, went a perfect four-for-four!

So, as all good hockey teams do, let's put that one quickly behind us and look forward to what's ahead. If we're to believe the consensus Round 3 predictions, we'll be seeing a Tampa Bay-Winnipeg Stanley Cup Final. Only four of 19 writers chose the Capitals to advance in the East (Dobber, Prata, Collins, Mark), while just three (Frey, Roos, MacLean) pin their hopes on the Golden Knights to do the same in the West.

Here are the Round 3 matchups:

Eastern Conference
Washington Capitals (M1) vs Tampa Bay Lightning (A1)

Western Conference
Vegas Golden Knights (P1) vs Winnipeg Jets (C2)

* Playoff action resumes tonight with the Capitals in Tampa Bay, while the Golden Knights will be in Winnipeg on Saturday.
