Is anyone sick of Christmas music yet?

The very first day of December is packed with exciting NHL headlines. Erik Karlsson makes his return to Ottawa. Will William Nylander sign a deal with the Leafs today? What we are concerned with most here though is Saturday night’s main slate of action. There are ten games tonight with seven of them beginning at 7 pm EST (fun!). The rest of the NHL will try to gain traction on the top two point scorers Rantanen and MacKinnon who have amassed an overwhelming gap on the rest of the league so early in the season—they are both out of action this Saturday.

Laine will look to maintain his lead in the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy race when he and the Jets face off against the Devils in New Jersey. The Leafs will bring along their league-best road record to Saint Paul, Minnesota tonight. The Bruins, who have the fewest losses in the NHL at home this season, will host the Red Wings. Let’s take a look at some players who have been red hot as of late and can be used in your lineups tonight.

C – Sidney Crosby (DK $7,700, FD $8,900)

The ex-Oceanic star has been the fourth best forward on both DraftKings and FanDuel over the last two weeks in terms of fantasy points per game. The Pens will be facing Anthony Stolarz on Saturday, another goalie in what is a long list of goalies the Flyers have employed this season. The Flyers have the second-worst penalty kill percentage in the NHL this season which gives even more rise to their goaltending woes. Crosby is currently skating on a line with Jake Guentzel and Dominik Simon. This line has been great this year. When the trio is on the ice together at even strength, they have piled up 126 shot attempts for while only allowing 67 shot attempts against. Sid will have a great opportunity to produce at both even strength and on the power play on today.

W – Patrik Laine (DK $8,100, FD $8,600)

Where do I start? The Finnish superstar has been averaging over two(!) goals per game over his last six games including a five-goal showing against the Blues a week ago today. He hasn’t had less than two shots on goal in a game in his last twelve games. He leads the league in goals. He’s been seeing almost five minutes of power play time on average over his last five games. Laine’s price at the beginning of the season was $6.3K on DraftKings and $7.7K on FanDuel. The aforementioned positive Laine stats are only a fraction of the number of reasons why he is the most expensive he’s been all season tonight on either site for the main slate.

W – Travis Konecny (DK $5,200, FD $5,400)

Travis Konecny has been a top ten forward in fantasy points per game on DraftKings and FanDuel over the last two weeks. The 2015 first rounder has averaged almost four shots per game over his last five games. He’s scored four goals in his last five games and has also chipped in three assists. Konecny continues to play with great linemates in Giroux and Couturier which only increases his value. Konecny has averaged 5.34 points/60 minutes since November 17th which is more than a point more than any other Flyer in the last two weeks. He’s also averaged the third highest points per 60 minutes out of all Flyers this season. Flyers/Penguins games are always super exciting—today should be no different.

D – Matt Dumba (DK $5,300, FD $5,900)

The 24-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan has been turning heads in his sixth season of professional hockey. Dumba currently sits third on the Wild in goals. He’s been especially great recently as he’s been the top defenseman on FanDuel in terms of fantasy points per game over the last two weeks. The Minnesota Wild host the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. The Leafs have been a bottom ten team this season at 5v5 in a plethora of defensive categories including SA/60, CF/60, SCA/60, and HDCA/60. Dumba will attempt to make another date with a scoresheet on Saturday night.

D – Roman Josi (DK $6,700, FD $6,600)

The Chicago Blackhawks have given up four or more goals in five straight games (this is #notgood). Roman Josi has been on a tear producing the fourth-most fantasy points per game on DraftKings over the last two weeks and the fifth-most fantasy points per game on FanDuel in that same time period. In his last three games, the Preds’ captain has combined for at least seven shots and blocks in each of them. Josi is also the only player on the Predators that has averaged over 25 minutes of ice time per game this season. Roman Josi’s pricey salary today is justified.
