Fantasy Take: Panik Goes To Washington

The Washington Capitals have signed right wing Richard Panik to a four-year contract worth $2.65 million.
The Capitals get: A middle-six winger who has shown flashes of brilliance with his two most recent teams, the Blackhawks and the Coyotes. Panik has one 20-goal and 40-point season under his belt (2016-17 with Chicago), when he mainly lined up with Jonathan Toews and a variety of others.
Panik will likely slot in on the Capitals’ third line alongside Lars Eller and recently re-signed Carl Hagelin. Expect him to replace the recently departed Brett Connolly, who has signed a four-year contract with Florida. Connolly scored a career-high 46 points while on Eller’s line last season, so if all goes well Panik could reach 20 goals and 40 points for the second time in his career. Panik won’t likely spend much time on the first-unit power play, but a spot on the second-unit power play seems likely.
