Here’s the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you’re looking for information about a specific player and don’t see their name in this article, there probably hasn’t been any significant updates about their progress since last week's article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza

Rickard Rakell – Is officially day-to-day with an upper-body injury that's kept him sidelined since March 28th. Judging from the play in which he was hurt, he may be dealing with a head injury. This would be difficult to put a timeframe on because concussion-like symptoms tend to be unpredictable. He skated on his own recently and is 'inching closer' to a return, according to head coach Dallas Eakins.

Ryan Getzlaf – Left Friday's game against the Coyotes with an upper-body injury and is officially day-to-day. He didn't practice on Monday and wasn't in the lineup on Tuesday against the Sharks. Anaheim's next game is on Friday against the Avalanche, which seems like enough time for Getzlaf to recover from an injury that isn't believed to be too serious.

Antti Raanta – Has been sidelined since March 22nd with a lower-body injury that was expected to keep him out a while. He's reportedly progressing faster than originally anticipated and could join the team at some point on their road trip – which includes five more games and extends to April 14th

Darcy Kuemper – Suffered a knee injury on March 8th and was originally expected to miss about four weeks. Here we are, four weeks later and it's safe to say he'll be sidelined for longer than we originally thought. We have heard he's progressing well, but there's still no timetable for his return. Adin Hill has been solid with the increased workload while both Kuemper and Raanta are unavailable. He's allowed two goals or fewer in five of his last six starts.

Charlie McAvoy – Missed Tuesday's clash with the Flyers due to an upper-body injury. Coach Bruce Cassidy shared that McAvoy was day-to-day, but didn't provide any other information after the game. The 23-year-old defenseman has been excellent for the Bruins this season, tallying 22 points through 35 appearances.

Tuukka Rask – Seemed to injure his back on March 7th after a collision with New Jersey's Miles Wood. He returned on March 25thbut only lasted 20 minutes as he reaggravated the injury and was forced to leave the game. On Friday, coach Bruce Cassidy said that the Bruins netminder hadn't responded to treatment as well as they would have liked. He'll travel with the team as Boston's next two games are on the road, but there's no concrete timetable for his return. With Rask injured and Halak in COVID protocol, the Bruins are rocking the inexperienced tandem of Dan Vladar and Jeremy Swayman – who have both put up great numbers in limited action.

Dylan Cozens – The Sabres' rookie has been skating on his own as he works his way back from an upper-body injury. He seems to be progressing well but is probably a week away from joining the team.

Jack Eichel – No changes in his status since we learned last week that he was making progress from an upper-body injury. While the team is still hopeful Eichel will return at some point this season, we don't have a timetable for his return. Don't look now but the Sabres have won three of their last four games. Linus Ullmark has provided Buffalo with some solid goaltending since returning from injury.

Teuvo Teravainen – The Hurricanes winger is still recovering from a concussion and there's no timetable for his return. I've mentioned before that dealing with a concussion is an unpredictable process and the recovery period varies from person to person. He continues to skate but hasn't been able to take contact in a full practice just yet.

Bowen Byram – Continues to skate as he works his way through concussion protocol. As I write this, his status for Wednesday's game against Minnesota hasn't yet been determined. He's missed Colorado's last six games with the upper-body injury, but it sounds like he's getting close to a return.

Gustav Nyquist – Continues to practice and travel with the team but he'll need some more time before he's ready to return. The Blue Jackets forward underwent shoulder surgery in early November that came with a five to six month recovery period.

Joel Kiviranta – On March 27th, we heard that the Stars forward would be out for a week with a lower-body injury. On April 3rd, we learned he was still in a walking boot. Given this information, it's hard to project exactly when he'll be back.

Alexander Radulov – The 34-year-old forward is dealing with a lower-body injury and is not with the team as they wrap up their road trip on Thursday in Chicago. He remains in Texas and continues toskate, so hopefully we get a more substantial update when the team returns home.

Tyler Seguin – Has been skating on his own at the Stars' practice facility and the hope is he'll be able to join the team in practice soon. Dallas begins a five-game homestand on April 13th, which seems like the perfect stretch for Seguin to reintegrate with his teammates. From then on, when he returns will be determined by how he responds to the increased intensity of full contact practices. It's been a while, so I'll remind you that Seguin is recovering from hip surgery that took place back in early November and came with a five-month recovery timeline.

Ben Bishop – The Stars netminder underwent knee surgery in late October that came with a recovery timeline of five months. That original timeline ran its course a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't seem like Bishop's return is imminent. He's skating at the team's practice facility and is expected to participate in practice at some point soon. Once he has a few high-intensity practices under his belt, we should get a better sense of when he'll be back in the lineup.

Robby Fabbri – The Red Wings forward is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. The team was expected to learn more about the injury on Tuesday, but it seems they haven't shared that information with the public just yet.

Bobby RyanHas been practicing with the team as he recovers from an upper-body injury.  The expectation is he'll be back in the lineup on Thursdaywhen Detroit hosts Nashville.

Jonathan Bernier Detroit's netminder should be available for Thursday's clash with the Predators after participating in practice last week. He's been sidelined since March 18thwith a lower-body injury. Considering the quality of the team in front of him, Bernier has been excellent this season. He has an 8-6-0 record, alongside a 2.78 GAA and .918 save percentage.

Tyler Bertuzzi – For the first time since suffering a back injury in late January, Bertuzzi travelled with the team. He didn't practice with his teammates, but he did skate on his own during the Red Wings' four-game road trip through Florida. At this point, it still doesn't sound like he's close to practicing with the team. Considering the fact that he'll need a few practices to work his way back to game-level intensity, I'd say he's at least a few weeks away from a return, but it's possible we don't see him play again this season.

Anthony Duclair – There's a good chance he returns from a shoulder injury during the team's current road trip – which extends to April 17thand includes five more games.

Nick Bjugstad – Is dealing with an upper-body injury and won't be available for Wednesday's clash with Colorado. We don't have a timeline for the injury just yet, so I'll assume he's day-to-day until we hear otherwise.

Mats Zuccarello – Was skating on Wednesday morning and is expected to return from a lower-body injury on Wednesday night against the Avalanche.

Marcus Foligno – Has been skating on his own but there's no timeline on his return from a lower-body injury

Marco Rossi – Based on recent tests, the ninth overall pick of the 2020 draft should be able to start light training soon. He had been sidelined indefinitely due to COVID complications but has been progressing well and should be ready for next season's training camp.

Carey Price – The Canadiens' netminder is day-to-day with a lingering lower-body injury and won't be available for Wednesday's clash with the Leafs. At this point, there's a chance that Jake Allen starts both games of Montreal's back-to-back on Wednesday and Thursday – it all depends on how Price responds to rest and treatment. Price struggled early on but found his footing as the season progressed, posting a 6-1-2 record, 1.87 GAA and .931 save percentage in the month of March.

Brendan Gallagher – Suffered a fractured thumb in Monday's win against the Oilers and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. The team is confident he won't need surgery, but they can't confirm that until the swelling goes down and they get a better look. He still needs to meet with doctors before we get an official timetable, but it sounds like he's going to miss at least a few weeks. It seems Jesperi Kotkaniemi will get the first shot in Gallagher's spot alongside Phillip Danault and Tomas Tatar.

Joel Armia – Has completed his quarantine period after testing positive for COVID-19. It's now just a matter of getting back in shape and preparing for the intensity of an NHL game. With Gallagher sidelined for the foreseeable future, Armia may be tasked with a bigger role once he returns.

Matt Duchene Is reportedly getting close to a return as GM David Poile hopes to have him back after the trade deadline on April 12th. It was announced on March 6ththat Duchene would miss three to five weeks as a result of a lower-body injury. That timetable has just about run its course, so it seems plausible that Duchene will be ready to return in the next week or so.

Viktor Arvidsson – Is day-to-day with an upper-body injury that kept him out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Red Wings. He's currently with the team in Detroit and hasn't yet been ruled out of Thursday's rematch with the Red Wings.

Filip Forsberg – The Predators forward remains week-to-week with an upper-body injury. It sounds like Forsberg is progressing well and General Manager David Poile hopes to have him back shortly after the April 12th Trade Deadline.

Ryan Ellis – Has been skating every day and is getting close to a return. On March 2nd, the team announced that he'd miss four to six weeks with an upper-body injury. We're five weeks into that timetable and it seems he's about a week away from a return. That idea was reinforced by GM David Poile, who said Ellis could be back shortly after the April 12thTrade Deadline.

Nico Hischier – Underwent surgery on March 15ththat came with a recovery timeline of approximately three weeks. That timetable recently ran its course and it sounds like New Jersey's captain is getting very close to a return. He's been skating on his own for the past week and was on the ice with his teammates during Wednesday morning's practice

Kasperi Kapanen – No significant updates since we learned he was week-to-week with a lower-body injury. He continues to rehab off the ice and hasn't skated recently.

Brandon Tanev – The Penguins forward is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Evgeni Malkin – Is expecting to start skating by himself on Wednesday – for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury on March 16th. The Penguins superstar is on long term injured reserve, which means he's not eligible to return until April 11that the earliest. When exactly he returns will depend on how he responds to these next few stages of rehab.

Erik Cernak – Last played on March 23rd and has been day-to-day with a lower-body injury since then. Coach Jon Cooper is hopeful that Cernak will be able to return at some point during the team's current road trip– which extends to April 13th and includes three more games.

Frederik Andersen – Hasn't been skating recently due to a lower-body issue that's bothered him frequently this season. Coach Sheldon Keefe didn't have a significant update on Andersen's status, but did mention there's no concern his goaltender is out for the season. The Leafs can afford to be patient with Andersen because Jack Campbell has been outstanding this season. The 29-year-old netminder has won all nine of his starts, posting a 1.53 GAA and .944 save percentage in the process.

Elias Pettersson – With the COVID outbreak in Vancouver, we haven't had many updates about Pettersson's recovery from a wrist injury. On March 22nd – roughly two weeks ago – it was reported that he was a week or two away from returning. Seeing as that timeline has run its course, one would assume that Pettersson would be available to play when the Canucks return from this COVID pause. With that being said, the recovery process has proven unpredictable so far. Days have turned into weeks and its now been over a month since he last played.
