Fantasy Impact: Chicago Acquires Adam Gaudette For Matthew Highmore

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded forward Matthew Highmore to the Vancouver Canucks for forward Adam Gaudette.
The Blackhawks get: A young No.4 center who has potential to be a No.3 guy. He hasn't done much on the power play, though he generally gets just over one minute per game. His production last season was at a 46-point pace (as a 23-year-old), but has dropped off a lot this season. Puck luck has had much to do with it (5on5 S% of 3.7).
The Canucks get: A similar depth player who is a year older and a little more injury prone. Highmore is a bit of a wildcard. At 25, his upside seems to be more established on the lower end. But he is a former scoring star in junior hockey and his rookie AHL season, his only full season there, he had 24 goals in 64 games. Basically, Vancouver gets the lesser player with untapped upside of being just as good – and they shave a bit of cap space ($225,000) and they don't have to worry about Gaudette's pending RFA status because Highmore is signed for next year on the cheap.
Fantasy Players Impacted: These players will simply swap the same roster spot. Gaudette will play center though, whereas Highmore is a winger. Adding a winger likely pushes Travis Boyd and/or Jayce Hawryluk to the press box. But this is a depth move that is not going to make any waves in fantasy hockey.
