Player Props: Game 7 Monday (Over/Under Plays)

Will McLean

2022-05-30

Who will the last team to punch their ticket to the Conference Finals be? Will it be the New York Rangers or the Carolina Hurricanes? We already know that the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche will meet in the West. The Tampa Bay Lightning are one-half of the Eastern Conference Final, but they've had to wait a week to see who their opponent will be. With the Rangers and Hurricanes playing game 7 tonight, the wait is over to find out who the last team of the final four is. Will the Hurricanes continue to be undefeated on home ice, or will the Rangers break that trend? I can't wait to find out.

Below are a few of my favorite prop bets for tonight's games to consider:

Odds are from Bet365 as of Monday morning

Teuvo Teravainen Over 0.5 Points (-125)

Teravainen has been following the same trend as the Hurricanes, great at home, horrible on the road. In his 13 games during the playoffs, he has 11 points, which leads the team. Of his 11 points, 10 of them have come on home ice. It doesn't make sense that he is averaging 1.43 points per game at home and only 0.17 on the road, but I am going to chase that trend with this play. Also knowing that he had two points in game 7 last round, on home ice, boosts my confidence in this pick.

Nino Niederreiter Over 1.5 Shots (-150)

This play has similar reasoning to the Teravainen pick, Niederreiter has been better at home. During the playoffs, he has recorded 23 shots in 13 games. He has 15 shots in his seven home games and only eight on the road. While playing the Rangers this series he has had two or more shots in four of the six games. The two games he didn't have at least two shots, you guessed it, were road games. He is also averaging 4.38 shot attempts per game during the playoffs, which is another reason why I like this play.

Chris Kreider Under 2.5 Shots (-110)

Kreider scored 52 goals this season, so betting the under on shots may be a little risky, but I'm going to take it anyways. In his 13 games these playoffs he has recorded 35 shots. Out of those 35 shots, 24 have been on home ice.  This means that Kreider only has 11 shots in his six road games, which looks promising when betting the under. He has played three games in Carolina so far this series and has a grand total of one shot. Seeing as he only has one shot in three road games this series, I'm confident in taking the under here.

Adam Fox Over 0.5 Powerplay Points (+200)

Fox currently leads the playoffs in defensemen scoring with 16 points in 13 games. Out of his 16 points, eight of them have come on the powerplay. He is currently averaging 0.62 powerplay points per game during the playoffs, which looks good to me when given 2 to 1 odds. In this series, he is averaging 3:30 minutes on the powerplay per game, which is above his playoffs and regular season averages this year. If game 7 is similar to the rest of the series, he should get ample time on the powerplay to record us a point. One more big factor when picking this play, Fox has a powerplay point in four straight games, and I think that streak will continue.

Enjoy the game tonight everyone, and hopefully, we can cash some bets! Always remember to gamble responsibly.
