DFS Thursday: Blues, Islanders, and Kings Lead The Way

Brad Hayward

I'm traveling, so not as easy to get in my ALWAYS accurate reading first, so I'm going off the routine, and picking teams to focus upon, with stackable options. This puts winning on you, the reader, and keeps you from throwing more eggs my way.

WARM:  St. Louis at home against San Jose. A few days ago, Jack Campbell confessed to not having had his "A-game" displayed yet, and then had his best of the season against the Lightning.   There are many on the Blues' roster who could take this lesson.  It has to start on the top line tonight, so ALL of Jordan Binnington, Robert Thomas, Pavel Buchnevich, and Vladimir Tarasenko can be reasonably owned in a stack.

HOT: NY Islanders at home against Arizona. Ilya Sorokin has a 1.6 GAA over his last 5 starts, which have included Calgary, Carolina, and the Rangers.  Arizona might get two goals, but that bet I'd leave on the table. Sorokin, Noah Dobson, Mathew Barzal, and Anders Lee should prevail easily.

BOILING: The Chicago Blackhawks??? No. But look for Los Angeles to exploit their inexperience and ruin Peter Mrazek's return. Jonathan Quick (not yet confirmed), and top-liners Anze Kopitar, Adrian Kempe, and Gabe Vilardi will be my play for tonight – hopefully watching from a hotel bar in Maine.

Thanks for reading!

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – The Wilkes-Jarry Penguins

Elizabeth and Lewis are back to take listeners through a host of power play changes that are giving managers the opportunity to get exposure to great players off the waiver wire, including Philly, Jersey, and Tampa talk. They also cover Jarry’s AHL demotion, Cooley’s ascension to the top-line and powerplay, and injuries to Tavares and Hintz. The duo wrap up with some hot and cold streak deep dives, including discussion of the Red Wings crazy powerplay success in the last ten games, whether Erik Gustafsson is rosterable or an overperforming illusion, Fantilli’s continued success, Merilainen as Hamburglar 2.0, and whether Schenn’s success and Neighbours’ lack thereof are likely to continue.
