Daily Fantasy Saturday: The Devil You Know

A full month into the NHL season and we've got division leaders of Boston, New Jersey, Vegas, and Winnipeg (point %). Some surprises there for sure. It's also nice to see the Kraken playing well after a rough inaugural season and a team like the Coyotes currently tied for a playoff spot. That's truly the beauty of many of the professional sports with the parity and unpredictability that often exists.
As for DFS, the trend of a loaded Saturday schedule continues with 13 games on the day and 11 on the main slate that kicks off at 7 pm EST. That's a lot to digest so let's get right into some targets. The player prices are from DraftKings but the information and concepts can be applied to any site.
Top-Tier Stack to Pay Up For
Are the Coyotes actually, dare I say, good? This Arizona team of which very little was expected is currently sitting at 6-6-1 and come in riding a three-game winning streak. While all of this is impressive, I can't say given their roster I expect these winning ways to continue. So, I'm going to bank on that regression starting tonight in New Jersey against a first-place Devils team who's on an even more impressive win streak of eight games. Look at the members of the top power-play unit such as Nico Hischier ($6,400), Jack Hughes ($7,400), and Jesper Bratt ($6,600) for your stacks. The three of them have accounted for 30 points during the winning streak. It won't come cheap, but also consider Dougie Hamilton ($7,300) who's 32 shots are the most on the team over those eight games. Tomas Tatar ($4,000) is a strong secondary option if you're looking for some value as his eight points during this streak trail only that of the above trio and he skates at even strength with Hischier.
Mid-Tier Stack to Target
Few teams are struggling as bad as the Blues who have lost eight of nine and allowed at least three goals in all nine of those games. On the flip side, the Golden Knights have won nine straight including a thumping of the Sabres on Thursday capped off by a hat trick for Jack Eichel in his return to Buffalo. Eichel's ($7,000) nine goals and ten assists should be the centerpiece for any Vegas stack. To join him consider Chandler Stephenson ($5,000), Mark Stone ($5,100), and Alex Pietrangelo ($7,000). As a group, those four have averaged a point per game during the team's winning streak.
Cheap Stack to Build Around
Despite only scoring eight times total over the last three games, the Kings have managed to win all three. That lack of offense has the top line for Los Angeles among the cheapest on the slate, but being they're fully correlated at both even strength and the power play means they have the potential at any time to combine for a high score if they can connect on two or three goals with all of that ice time together. Look at Anze Kopitar ($5,500), Adrian Kempe ($4,900), and Gabriel Vilardi ($5,300) for your stack. Drew Doughty ($4,700) can also be considered and is fairly cheap as well after a sluggish offensive start to the season.
Goalies
When it comes to goalies, I like to correlate mine with one of my stacks. However, if you're looking to just pluck a one off, I'd consider John Gibson ($7,800) who's a high-risk, high-reward play. Nobody has seen more shots and made more saves this season than Gibson, unfortunately, nobody has allowed more goals either. But if he can keep them out of the net the high volume of shots is exactly what you're looking for with the DraftKings scoring.
