Thursday NHL Prop Picks: Thompson and Hyman Just Keep Shooting; Pastrnak’s Power Play Prowess

It is Thursday once again, so let's find some winning NHL props. We have 12 games on the NHL schedule tonight, which is plenty when trying to find some winning prop bets. I've taken my time to look over every matchup tonight, and I think I've found a few props that can win us some money. The research is done, the picks are in, and now it's time to watch some hockey!

Below, I highlight three player props that stood out to me for tonight's games. Our record this season stands at (12 – 6) after going (2 – 1) last Thursday, hopefully, we can sweep the board tonight!

Tage Thompson – Over 3.5 Shots (-133)

Thompson has been tearing up the league this season and I expect him to do more of the same tonight against the Colorado Avalanche. Thompson is averaging 4.66 shots per game, but over his last six games, he is averaging 5.17, half a shot more than usual. In those six games, he recorded at least four shots in five of them, as well as in 13 of his last 17. Also, in his last six road games, he has recorded four or more shots in five of them, which looks good as Thompson and the Sabres are playing in Colorado tonight. Last but not least, Thompson is averaging 8.57 shot attempts per game over his last seven, which means Thompson is throwing that puck at the net at a ridiculous rate recently. With how well Thompson has been playing recently, as well as all season, I expect him to rack up the shots tonight and get us the win.

Zach Hyman – Over 3.5 Shots (+120)

With Evander Kane out of the lineup, Hyman has stepped up and has been playing amazingly. This season Hyman has been averaging 3.86 shots per game, but over his last 10 games he has been averaging 5.1, a big jump up from his season average. He has recorded four or more shots in five straight games and eight of his last 10. The St. Louis Blues are averaging 34.9 shots against while playing on the road this season, the fourth most for road teams, which should help Hyman as he and the Oilers are hosting the Blues tonight. In two games versus the Blues this season Hyman has recorded eight shots, this just adds to my confidence because it proves he can win us this bet. Look for Hyman to continue his hot play tonight and get us the win.

David Pastrnak – Over 0.5 Power Play Points (-115)

David Pastrnak and the Boston Bruins are hosting the Los Angeles Kings tonight, who are in their final matchup of a six-game East Coast road trip. The Kings have a horrendous penalty kill that is running at 70.4%, the fourth worst in the NHL. They average 1.06 powerplay goals against per game while on the road, the sixth most in the league. The Bruins power play on the other hand is fantastic, running at a clip of 28.6%, the third best. While playing at home this season the Bruins are averaging 1.19 power play goals per game, for a total of 19 power play goals in 16 home games. In those 16 home games this season, Pastrnak has recorded 13 power play points, meaning he is recording a power play point in 81% of home games. With how bad the Kings penalty kill is, how good the Bruins are on the power play, and how important Pastrnak is to the Bruins power play, I expect Pastrnak to record at least one PPP tonight.
