Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

Jake DeBruskWas seen wearing a walking boot after blocking a shot during the Winter Classic on Monday. He played the whole game and the team didn't label him injured afterwards, so it's unclear whether this will cause him to miss time going forward.

Eric ComrieThe 27-year-old netminder was recently sent down to the AHL for a conditioning stint. He’s played one game in the minors so far, stopping 34 of the 36 shots he faced against the Marlies. Comrie has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since November 16th. The fact that he's playing games again suggests a return is imminent.

Frederik AndersenAccording to General Manager Don Waddell, the Hurricanes are hoping Andersen returns in the next week or so. He's been sidelined with a lower-body injury for the past two months but has been practicing with the team consistently in recent weeks. It sounds like the Hurricanes will be rostering three goalies when Andersen returns. They risk losing Antti Raanta to waivers if they send him down to the AHL, and rookie Pyotr Kochetkov has been playing much too well to be sent down.

Max Pacioretty – On December 29th, coach Rod Brind'Amour said it's possible we see Pacioretty make his season debut in one of the team's next 10 games – creating a window that extends to January 19th. Pacioretty has been taking contact in recent practices, which is one of the last major milestones before a player gets back in the lineup. On August 10th, he underwent surgery to repair a torn Achilles and was expected to be sidelined for six months – making February 10th the originally projected return date. At this point, it seems extremely likely he returns ahead of schedule.

Tyler Johnson – Missed Tuesday's game against Tampa due to a non-COVID illness.

Patrick Kane – Left Tuesday's game against the Lightning because of a minor lower-body injury. Chicago doesn't practice on Wednesday, so we'll probably have to wait until Thursday to get an update on Kane's status for Friday's game against Arizona.

Gabriel LandeskogColorado's captain recently received a new timeline for his recovery from knee surgery, so the original 12-week timetable – which was down to its last week – can be thrown out the window. We haven't been given an exact timetable, but we know he's expected to be back this season. Although Landeskog's progressing well, he hasn't been skating recently, so his return isn't imminent.

Evan Rodrigues – The Avalanche forward is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He's travelling with the team as they visit Vancouver on Thursday and Edmonton on Saturday, but there's no guarantee he plays in either of those games.

Bowen Byram – It sounds like Byram's body wasn't responding well to treatment at first, but that finally started to change recently. Although he'll be back this season, there's no concrete timetable for his return. Byram has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since November 4th.

Valeri NichushkinSkated with his teammates for a little while during Tuesday's practice. He's travelling with the team through Vancouver on Thursday and Edmonton on Saturday, but there's no guarantee he plays in those games. Nichushkin is reportedly dealing with the same ankle injury that caused him to miss time earlier in the year.

Josh MansonSkated by himself on Tuesday, for the first time since suffering alower-body injury on December 1st.Manson won't travel with the Avalanche for their upcoming road trip, which means he'll miss at least the next two games.

Pavel FrancouzLast we head, Francouz was day-to-day (possibly week-to-week) with a lower-body injury. He's been skating on his own recently, but not practicing with the team, so his return doesn't seem to be imminent.

Ville Husso – Had been unavailable due to an illness recently, but was in the starter's net during Wednesday's morning skate. As a result, we can expect him to play against the Devils on Wednesday night.

Tyler Bertuzzi – Has recently been practicing without taking contact and is about a week away from a return. On December 2nd, we learned Bertuzzi would be sidelined for six weeks while recovering from surgery on his hand.

Evander Kane – Was skating and taking shots with his teammates on Tuesday but is officially out week-to-week. The original timeline for his wrist surgery recovery had him returning at some point in February or March. That still seems to be the case and the fact that he's skating and doing light stick work doesn't tell us very much about the status of his wrist.

Anthony Duclair – Officially, his status is week-to-week, but coach Paul Maurice expects to have a more detailed update on Duclair at some point after the All-Star Break (first weekend of February). The Panthers' forward is working his way back from offseason surgery to repair an Achilles tendon.

Trevor MooreThe Kings' forward is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. He's been working out off the ice but hasn't been skating recently. As I write this, Moore's status for Thursday's battle with the Bruins remains up in the air.

Arthur KaliyevSustained an injury after blocking a shot on December 20th against the Ducks and remains day-to-day. Kaliyev hasn't been skating recently but has been working out off the ice. His status for Thursday's game against Boston is yet to be determined.

Kaiden GuhleMissed Montreal's last two games because of a lower-body injury. Now that the Canadiens have returned home from their road trip, Guhle should be evaluated thoroughly – giving us more information about his status going forward.

Ondrej PalatIn recent weeks, Palat has been practicing consistently at full capacity. Although it doesn't seem like he'll play against the Red Wings on Wednesday, I expect he'll be back very soon. On November 8th, we learned he'd be out for eight to ten weeks following groin surgery. The short end of that timetable recently ran its course.

Oliver WahlstromThe Islanders recently announced that Wahlstrom would be sidelined indefinitely because of a lower-body injury.

Adam PelechThe Islanders' defenseman remains sidelined with an upper-body injury and hasn't been skating recently. It's believed he's dealing with a head injury, which is always hard to put a timetable on. He isn't travelling with the team through Edmonton on Thursday or Calgary on Friday, so he'll miss two more games at the very least.

Josh NorrisAlthough he's been skating with the team and taking contact recently, he isn't expected to play any time soon. There's no concrete timetable for Norris' return, it's mostly a matter of when he feels comfortable to play.

Carter HartDidn't dress against the Ducks on Monday, but it sounds like he's cleared concussion protocol. Although Hart should be available for Thursday's clash with the Coyotes, 23-year-old Samuel Ersson has played well in his absence and may get the start instead.

Tristan Jarry – Left Monday's Winter Classic with a lower-body injury. There's no concrete timetable for his return as he's still being evaluated. However, he almost certainly won't be available for Thursday's game against Vegas.

Kris Letang – Is dealing with a lower-body injury but is also on personal leave as his father recently passed away.

Jeff Petry – Has been skating on his own recently, holding his stick with only one hand. Reports indicate Petry's dealing with a wrist injury, so the fact that he still isn't using one hand suggests he hasn't fully recovered.

Ryan O'Reilly – Is dealing with a broken foot and will be re-evaluated in six weeks.

Vladimir Tarasenko – Recently broke his hand and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Thatcher DemkoSkated on Tuesday without any equipment. The hope is he'll be able to get on the ice in his equipment at some point this week, before travelling to Winnipeg on Sunday. That doesn't mean he'll play against the Jets, it's just that being with the team gives him opportunities to practice. On December 3rd, we learned Demko would be sidelined for six weeks with a lower-body injury. There's still another week and a half left in that original timetable.

Alec MartinezReports indicate he injured his foot after blocking a shot against the Kings last week, but there's no concrete timetable for his return.

Jonathan MarchessaultThe Golden Knights' forward has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since December 21st. He has been skating recently and could be an option against the Penguins on Thursday.

Jack Eichel – The star forward has been activated from Injured Reserve, which suggests he'll be available for Thursday's game against the Penguins. Eichel has missed 13 of Vegas' last 14 games due to a lower-body injury.

Nicklas BackstromRecently cleared COVID protocol and was a full participant in practice on Monday. Although hewon't play against the Blue Jackets on Thursday, he could make his season debut very soon after that.

Tom WilsonWon't play against Columbus on Thursday, but it sounds like he could return very soon after that. As a reminder, Wilson had surgery to reconstruct a torn ACL in his left knee back in late-May. The procedure came with a recovery timeline of six to eight months, so it's realistic to expect a return now that seven months have passed.

Cole PerfettiThe Jets forward is expected to return from an upper-body injury on Friday against Tampa Bay.

Blake WheelerHas been skating recently without taking contact. Wheeler had groin surgery a few weeks ago and is probably a week or so away from a return.

Nikolaj Ehlers – Should be back in the lineup on Friday when Winnipeg hosts the Lightning. It sounds like he's fully recovered from sports hernia surgery, which he had on November 23rd.
