Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

John KlingbergThe Ducks defenseman missed Tuesday's clash with the Coyotes due to an illness.

Matias MaccelliIt's been about a month since we learned Maccelli would be sidelined for six weeks with a lower-body injury. He's been skating recently and his status has been upgraded to day-to-day, so he should be back in the lineup very soon.

Jake DeBruskThe Bruins forward was scheduled to start skating again on Monday. I imagine he did, but I haven't seen any confirmation just yet. He isn't expected to travel with the team as they visit Tampa Bay, Florida, and Carolina over their next three games. Boston's next game after that – and final game before the All-Star break – is set for February 1st in Toronto. DeBrusk may return for that game, or the medical staff may give him an extra ten days off as the Bruins won't play again until February 11th. He's been sidelined with a lower-body injury and hand injury since January 2nd.

Jaccob SlavinIs dealing with a lower-body injury and wasn't on the ice for Tuesday's practice. Slavin is officially listed as 'doubtful' for Wednesday's game against Dallas. However, coach Rod Brind'Amour emphasized there's no point taking chances with minor injuries and letting them get worse at this point in the year. With that in mind, I don't expect Slavin will play on Wednesday.

Max PaciorettyThe Hurricanes' forward is expected to miss the rest of the season as he recently tore his Achilles tendon. It's a tough break for Pacioretty, who just had surgery to repair a torn Achilles this past summer. He'd only been back for five games before getting injured again.

Tyler Johnson – Recently reaggravated the ankle sprain that caused him to miss time earlier in the season. The Blackhawks have two more games before the All-Star break, one in Calgary on Thursday and one in Edmonton on Saturday. Johnson's currently on injured reserve and won't play in either of those games.

Cale Makar – Although he didn't play against Washington on Tuesday, he took part in morning skate and was also a full participant during Monday's practice. It sounds like Makar's being kept out of the lineup to ensure whatever upper-body injury he's currently dealing with doesn't turn into a bigger issue down the road. His participation in next week's All-Star break isn't in doubt right now, so the injury doesn't seem to be a long-term issue.

Bowen ByramSkated with his teammates on Tuesday, but wasn't taking any contact. The plan seems to be for Byram to return right after the All-Star break, which sets February 7th against the Penguins as a possible return date. Byram has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since November 4th.

Josh MansonContinues to skate with the team but still isn't taking contact. Although there's a small chance he returns before the All-Star break, it's more likely he returns immediately after it. Manson has been sidelined with alower-body injury since December 1st.

Tyler BertuzziThe Red Wings forward is day-to-day with a groin injury. Coach Derek Lalonde originally said that if Bertuzzi couldn't play on Tuesday – and he didn't – then the team might just let him rest until after the All-Star break. That means Bertuzzi could very well miss Detroit's next two games, set for Thursday against the Canadiens and Friday against the Islanders.

Evander KaneWon't play against the Blue Jackets on Wednesday as he's set to appear in court for his bankruptcy trials.

Sam BennettIs dealing with a lower-body injury that isn't too severe. As I write this, there's no concrete timetable for his return.

Sergei BobrovskyWhen Bobrovsky went down with a lower-body injury last Thursday against Montreal, coach Paul Maurice circled this weekend's back-to-back against the Kings and Bruins as a potential return window. Bobrovsky has been skating recently and we haven't heard anything to suggest that the original plan has been derailed.

Spencer Knight – Was recently recalled from a conditioning stint in the AHL. Although Knight was expected to start against the Penguins on Tuesday, it seems he wasn't quite feeling 100-percent as third-string netminder Alex Lyon was forced to start both games of a back-to-back set. Knight's latest absence was due to an 'undisclosed' injury, but it's worth mentioning he'd been sidelined with an illness for two weeks in December. He only started four games for Florida since returning from that ailment and his numbers in those games weren't great. It's fair to wonder whether he's still dealing with lingering effects of his earlier illness.

Gabriel Vilardi – The Kings' forward is back home in Los Angeles as he's dealing with an upper-body injury. He's expected to miss the rest of the team's current road trip, which means he won't be back until after the All-Star break. LA's first game after the break will be played on February 11th against Pittsburgh.

Cole CaufieldWill be sidelined for the rest of the season as he's set to have shoulder surgery. Reports indicate Caufield had been playing with this shoulder injury for a while now, so it's remarkable he's managed 26 goals in 46 appearances this season. A full recovery is expected before next season's training camp begins.

Jake AllenCayden Primeau was sent down to the AHL on Wednesday, which suggests Jake Allen will be back in the lineup on Thursday against Detroit. It'll be interesting to see how many starts Allen gets going forward as his counterpart Samuel Montembeault has been excellent lately.

Sean MonahanHas been skating with the team recently but hasn't been taking any contact. He'll probably need a few full-contact practices before returning, so it seems likely his return will have to wait until after the All-Star break. Montreal's first game after the break is set for February 11th against the Islanders.

Noah DobsonThe Islanders' defenseman is officially day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. Although he didn't play against Toronto on Monday, he was listed as a game-time decision, which suggests whatever he's dealing with isn't too severe. His status for Wednesday's game against Ottawa remains up in the air as I write this.

Josh NorrisIs set to have shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the 2022-2023 campaign. He'd been sidelined with the same shoulder injury for three months this season and had been back for just three games before getting injured again.

Tristan Jarry – Is dealing with an upper-body injury and won't be available until after the All-Star break. That means he'll miss at least two games – Thursday against the Capitals and Saturday against the Sharks. He had just returned to the lineup after missing a few weeks with a lower-body injury.

Andre Burakovsky – Was on the ice for Wednesday's morning skate and will be a game-time decision ahead of Seattle's clash with the Canucks.

Justin Schultz – The Kraken defenseman is week-to-week with an undisclosed injury.

Jaden SchwartzHas been sidelined with an undisclosed injury for almost two weeks now. Schwartz hasn't been practicing recently and isn't expected to play against Vancouver on Wednesday night.

Pavel BuchnevichWas recently placed on injured reserve after undergoing a minor surgical procedure for an infection to his ankle – where he had suffered a contusion earlier in the season. He'll be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, which means he'll miss St. Louis' next three games at the very least.

Thatcher Demko Is expected to return after the All-Star break. On December 3rd, we learned Demko would be sidelined for six weeks with a lower-body injury. Vancouver's first game after the break is scheduled for February 6th against New Jersey. Assuming Demko's able to return for that game, he will have missed three more weeks than originally anticipated.

Mark Stone – Vegas' captain is officially week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Reports indicate he's dealing with a back injury and is currently being evaluated to figure out the severity. There's cause for concern as missed a big chunk of last season with a back injury, which was repaired with surgery back in May.

Shea Theodore – Has been skating with the team recently but hasn't been taking contact. This is a really encouraging step in the right direction as Theodore hadn't been on the ice for a long time. He's on the road with the team as they visit New York this weekend, so there's a small chance he gets back in the lineup before the All-Star break. Theodore was labelled week-to-week with a leg injury in mid-December.

Nicklas Backstrom – Missed Tuesday's tilt with the Avalanche due to a non-COVID illness that has him listed as day-to-day.

Tom Wilson – Suffered a lower-body injury after blocking a shot during Tuesday's game against Colorado and is officially day-to-day.

T.J. Oshie – Missed Tuesday's clash with Colorado to be with his wife as she gave birth to their fourth child.
