Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

Shayne GostisbehereOn January 26th, we learned an upper-body injury would keep the Coyotes defenseman sidelined for four-to-six weeks. He has 29 points through 48 appearances this season, which translates to 50 points over 82 games.

Jake DeBruskThe Bruins' forward skated with his teammates on Tuesday but didn't take any contact. He'll probably need a full-contact practice before returning, which means he's unlikely to play against the Leafs on Wednesday night. Boston has nine days off before they return to action on February 11th against Washington. I imagine that extra time off will give DeBrusk a chance to fully recover. He's been sidelined with a lower-body injury and hand injury since January 2nd.

Tage Thompson – Missed Monday's practice and was labelled day-to-day with a nagging upper-body injury. Fortunately, Thompson was able to practice on Tuesday and will play against the Hurricanes on Wednesday night.

Dylan Cozens – The 21-year-old center Missed Saturday's game against Minnesota because of an upper-body injury and was labelled day-to-day. Cozens has practiced since then and will be available for Wednesday's clash with Carolina.

Jaccob SlavinAlthough he's missed Carolina's last five games with a lower-body injury, he's been skating with the team recently. Since the Hurricanes just played on Tuesday night, they won't skate again before playing the Sabres on Wednesday. That means we probably won't hear anything about Slavin's status for Wednesday's game until closer to puck drop. Considering this is Carolina's last game before a nine-day break, I think it makes more sense for Slavin to sit out and enjoy an extended rest, rather than rushing back and risking re-injury.

Valeri Nichushkin – Missed Colorado's final two games before the All-Star break and was labelled day-to-day with an upper-body injury – unrelated to his previous ankle issues. The Avalanche don't play again until February 7th, which gives Nichushkin plenty of time to rest and recover.

Bowen Byram – Has been ramping up the intensity of his skates recently, setting the stage for a potential return in Colorado's first game after the All-Star break – February 7th against the Penguins. Byram has been sidelined with a lower-body injury since November 4th.

Josh MansonHad been skating with the team before the break but still wasn't taking contact. Since the Avalanche have some time off before their next game (February 7th), Manson should have a chance to participate in a full-contact practice over these next few days if he's feeling up for it. The team has a skate scheduled for Sunday, so we'll see how involved Manson is in that session. He's been sidelined with alower-body injury since December 1st.

Gabriel LandeskogIs expected to start skating shortly after the All-Star break and the hope is he'll be able to return to the lineup in early March. Colorado's captain has been sidelined since having knee surgery in October.

Adam Boqvist – Missed Columbus' final two games before the All-Star break and was labelled day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He was a healthy scratch for two games in early January. Since then, he's posted seven points in 10 outings.

Gustav NyquistThe Blue Jackets recently announced that Nyquist is expected to miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. With that being said, Nyquist is determined to recover before the end of the season and still hopes to play a few more games this year.

Stuart SkinnerWasn't available for Saturday's game against Chicago because he was sick. The Oilers don't play again until February 7th, so Skinner should have plenty of time to rest and recover.

Sergei BobrovskyAlthough a lower-body injury prevented him from playing in Florida's last few games before the break, he was able to practice. There's hope he'll be able to return right after the All-Star break. Florida's first game after the break is set for Monday against Tampa Bay, which gives Bob a few more days to recover.

Spencer Knight – Hasn't played since January 8th but recently returned from a conditioning stint in the AHL to practice with the Panthers. Knight's latest absence was due to an 'undisclosed' injury, but it's worth mentioning he was sidelined with an illness for two weeks in December. He only started four games for Florida since returning from that ailment and his numbers in those games weren't great. It's fair to wonder whether he's still dealing with lingering effects of his earlier illness.  There are eight days between Florida's last game and next game. Hopefully that gives Knight enough time to get back to 100%.

Anthony Duclair – Had been practicing with the team prior to the All-Star break but wasn't taking contact. Duclair remains on track to return shortly after the break.

Arthur Kaliyev – Reports indicate the 21-year-old forward is recovering from a broken foot. Kaliyev has been sidelined since late December but has been skating on his own recently.

Trevor Moore – Has been skating on his own back in LA recently. The Kings don't play again until February 11th, so we probably won't get another update for a little while. Moore has been sidelined with a upper-body injury since December 23rd.

Sean MonahanHasn't been on the ice since practicing without contact on January 21st. Monahan has been sidelined with a foot injury since December 5th. On December 13th, the Canadiens announced he'd be back in two-to-three weeks. That timeline expired, and on January 6th, they announced he'd be out for two more weeks. That timetable has also run its course, and the there's nothing to suggest he'll be back anytime soon. The Canadiens will be releasing an update on Monahan's status at some point this week

Noah DobsonIs dealing with a lower-body injury and hasn't been skating recently. New York has a few more days off before their next game – scheduled for February 6th against the Flyers. I'm skeptical he'll be available for that game, but time will tell.

Oliver WahlstromReports indicate the 22-year-old forward could be sidelined for the rest of the season. Back in late December, the Islanders announced Wahlstrom was out indefinitely with a lower-body injury.

Cam TalbotIs dealing with a lower-body injury and reports indicate he could be sidelined for three to four weeks. The plan is for him to start skating next Thursday, when the team reconvenes after the All-Star break.

Tristan Jarry – Is dealing with an upper-body injury and hasn't been skating recently – still in the off-ice portion of his rehab. Pittsburgh's next game is scheduled for February 7th against the Avalanche. Although Jarry hasn't been ruled out of that game just yet, I imagine he'll need a little extra time to recover based on where he's at right now.

Matty BeniersSustained an undisclosed injury after taking a hit against the Canucks on January 25th. Beniers went on to miss Seattle's final two games before the break and won't be attending the All-Star game anymore. Now, his absence from the All-Star game doesn't necessarily speak to the severity of his injury. He needed to pass a few tests in order to participate, and those tests wouldn't have been done in the timeframe required by the league. Seattle's next game is on February 7th against the Islanders, so Beniers still has a few more days to rest and recover.

Robert ThomasA lower-body injury kept him out of St. Louis' final two games before the break, but the hope is he'll be available when the Blues return to action on February 11th.

Ryan O'ReillyThe Blues announced O'Reilly would be re-evaluated after six weeks when he broke his foot on December 31st. St. Louis' next game is on February 11th – exactly six weeks since O'Reilly suffered his injury. I imagine a lot would need to go right for him to return for that game, but it seems likely he'll return shortly afterwards. Since he hasn't been able to skate recently, he's been doing a lot of upper-body work and off-ice training.

Matt MurrayIs dealing with an ankle injury and won't be available for Wednesday's battle with Boston. Although there's no concrete timetable for his return, the team doesn't expect it to be a long-term issue. Toronto's next game after Wednesday is set for February 10th. I imagine we'll get another update on Murray's status before then.

Auston MatthewsOn January 27th, the Leafs announced Matthews would be sidelined for at least three weeks because of a knee sprain. Fortunately, the All-Star break will eat up some of that time as Toronto has eight days off between Wednesday's game against Boston and their next game against Columbus.

Ilya MikheyevWill be sidelined for the rest of the season following ACL surgery.

Mark Stone – There's hope Stone will be back shortly after the All-Star break. Vegas' captain has been sidelined since January 12th, labelled week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Reports indicate he's dealing with a back injury and is currently being evaluated to figure out the severity. There's cause for concern as missed a big chunk of last season with a back injury, which was repaired with surgery back in May. Vegas' first game after the break is on February 7th against the Predators.

Tom Wilson – Suffered a lower-body injury after blocking a shot last Tuesday against Colorado and was labelled day-to-day. Wilson hasn't been practicing recently and will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.

John CarlsonRecently got on the ice for a light skate – his first since taking a puck to the head on December 23rd. He has a checkup scheduled for late February, at which point we'll have a clearer idea of what's next for him. Although this is an encouraging step in the right direction, Carlson isn't expected to return any time soon.

It was reported yesterday that Stone had a 2nd surgery on his back gone indefinitely. Back injuries for hockey players aren’t positive. They end players’ careers earlier than most other significant injuries. Stone’s NHL career is in serious jeopardy I assume. Eric Daze, Craig Simpson, etc. forced to retire early due to ongoing back issues. We can fix most joint injuries now, hips, shoulders, etc. but haven’t found a long-term solution to back injuries, they tend to be degenerative. Most unfortunate for Stone. A great player who I assume may well be done now.
