Here's the latest injury news from across the NHL! If you're looking for information about a specific player and don't see their name in this article, there probably haven't been any significant updates about their progress since our last article. A few teams haven't been on the ice since the All-Star break began, so we'll have to wait a few more days before getting substantial updates from them. If you ever need injury updates for a specific player, shoot me a message on Twitter @BrennanDeSouza.

John KlingbergMissed Sunday's game against the Golden Knights due to an illness. Now that he's had a few days to recover, I imagine he'll be available against the Sabres on Wednesday. With that being said, his official status is still up in the air as I write this.

Troy TerryThe Ducks' forward is week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Reports indicate that the injury is to his midsection, but doesn't involve his ribs.

Shayne GostisbehereWas on the ice for Wednesday's morning skate and could return to the lineup within the next week. He's been sidelined with an upper-body injury since January 24th.

Jake DeBruskWas a full participant in Monday's practice and should return to the lineup against Nashville on Thursday. DeBrusk has been sidelined with a leg injury and hand injury since January 2nd.

Rasmus AnderssonThe Flames defenseman was struck by a vehicle while riding his scooter. Fortunately, he passed a full battery of tests at the hospital and is doing well – officially labelled day-to-day. He was on the ice for Wednesday's practice.

Jonathan Toews – A non-COVID illness has prevented Toews from practicing or playing recently. He was scheduled to skate by himself on Tuesday, but since he's in Chicago and the team is on the road, we don't know if he actually skated or not. He won't play against the Leafs on Wednesday and it's unlikely he faces the Senators on Friday. This is the third time since the beginning of December that Toews has been sidelined with an illness. In the summer of 2021, we learned that Toews had chronic immune response syndrome. His immune system would react to every little thing, resulting in him feeling drained and lethargic. This recent absence hasn't been linked to his condition by any official sources yet, but it's possible that there is some relation between the two.

Alex Stalock – Although initial reports indicated Stalock was dealing with his second concussion of the season, more recent reports reveal he's dealing with a cranial issue that affects his eyesight and tracking. While that also sounds serious, it's apparently not as concerning as a second concussion would have been.

Erik JohnsonA lower-body injury will keep him out of the lineup for weeks.

Pavel FrancouzIs dealing with a lower-body injury and hasn't been practicing recently. The team expects him to miss multiple weeks too.

Cale MakarSuffered a head injury when he was blindsided during last Tuesday's game against the Penguins. Although Makar's been skating recently, he hasn't been taking any contact. He won't play against the Wild on Wednesday and there's no timeline for his return.

Josh Manson Has been a full participant in recent practices and there's a good chance he returns to the lineup against Minnesota on Wednesday. A lower-body injury has kept Manson sidelined since December 1st.

Gabriel Landeskog The latest update we have is that there's no timeline for his return. Last week, coach Jared Bednar said Landeskog should start skating again at some point in mid-February. There haven't been any reports of that happening just yet, but there's still time. Colorado's captain has been on the shelf since undergoing knee surgery in October.

Lucas RaymondThe sophomore winger is officially day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Raymond is on injured reserve, which requires him to miss at least a week of action. He last played on February 9th, so he won't be eligible to play against the Oilers on Wednesday.

Kailer YamamotoLooks just about ready to return from an injury that's kept him sidelined since January 11th. In order to activate Yamamoto from long-term injured reserve (LTIR), the Oilers either need to make a trade or put someone on waivers to open up cap space. Seeing as they didn't make any transactions ahead of Wednesday's game against Detroit, Yamamoto's return will have to wait.

Anthony Duclair – Was a full participant in Monday's practice, taking contact for the first time since undergoing surgery on his Achilles tendon in the summer. Duclair isn't expected to play on the team's current road trip, which rules him out for Thursday's game in Washington and Saturday's game in Nashville. With that being said, he's very close to a return and could return just after the trip (i.e., February 20th against Anaheim).

Gabriel VilardiWas a full participant in Sunday's practice, so there's a good chance he's available for Friday's game against the Ducks. The 23-year-old forward has been sidelined with an upper-body injury for the past month.

Marcus FolignoSustained a lower-body injury after blocking a shot during Monday's game against the Panthers. Although the team doesn't expect Foligno to be out long term, he won't be available for Wednesday's clash with Colorado.

Arber XhekajThe 22-year-old defenseman will be sidelined indefinitely because of an upper-body injury, sustained during a fight on Sunday against the Oilers. He'll have some more tests done to determine a more concrete timetable for recovery.

Sean MonahanHas been skating recently but there's no concrete timeline for his return. Monahan has been sidelined with a foot injury since December 5th. On December 13th, the Canadiens announced he’d be back in two-to-three weeks. That timeline expired, and on January 6th, they announced he’d be out for two more weeks. That timetable has also run its course, and the there’s nothing to suggest he’ll be back anytime soon. The Canadiens were supposed to release an updated timeline recently, but I haven't seen anything just yet.

Kaiden GuhleThe rookie defenseman skated on Wednesday. On January 6th, we learned Guhle would be sidelined for at least eight weeks because of a knee injury. There are roughly two weeks left in that timetable, but the fact that he's skating now is certainly encouraging.

Filip ForsbergThe Predators winger is officially day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He sustained the injury after taking a hit during Saturday's game against the Flyers. Forsberg's head (helmet) seemed to make contact with the ice as he went down, so don't expect any concrete timelines for his return. Recovering from a head injury (if that's what this is) tends to be an unpredictable process.

Jack HughesOn February 9th, the Devils announced that Hughes was week-to-week with an upper-body injury. He was on the ice for Wednesday's practice but wasn't taking contact.

Jean-Gabriel PageauThe Islanders forward missed Tuesday's game against Ottawa and is officially day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Anton ForsbergThe Senators netminder suffered MCL tears in both his knees during Saturday's game against the Oilers. He won't require surgery but will be sidelined for the next two to three months.

Cam TalbotHas been skating recently and the hope is he'll be able to return in the next week or so. Talbot's been sidelined with a lower-body injury since January 25th. With both him and Forsberg unavailable, Ottawa is currently running a rookie tandem of Mads Sogaard and Kevin Mandolese in net.

Jake SandersonAn upper-body injury will keep Sanderson sidelined for 10-14 days. He's having a strong rookie campaign, tallying 21 points through 51 appearances so far.

Tristan JarryLooked good during Monday's practice. Although his official status is day-to-day, he's getting very close to a return. Don't be surprised to see Jarry start Pittsburgh's next game, which is scheduled for Friday against the Islanders. He's been sidelined with an upper-body injury for the past few weeks.

Kaapo Kahkonen – Suffered an upper-body injury on Saturday and had to enter concussion protocol. The original plan was for Kahkonen to play backup for Tuesday's game against the Penguins, but the team decided to give him an extra day off. He should be available for Thursday's game against the Golden Knights.

James Reimer – Has been unavailable recently due to a minor illness. Officially, Reimer is day-to-day. However, seeing as he skated on Tuesday, he may be available against Vegas on Thursday.

Andre BurakovskyThe 28-year-old forward is officially week-to-week with a lower-body injury. According to Kraken GM Ron Francis, the injury is expected to keep Burakovsky sidelined for a while.

Torey KrugThe Blues defenseman is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, but there's a chance he plays against the Devils on Thursday.

Auston MatthewsWill return to the lineup on Wednesday when the Leafs host the Blackhawks. Matthews has been sidelined with a knee injury for the past few weeks.

Matt MurrayThe Leafs netminder is expected to miss a couple more weeks because of his ankle injury. It's been a month since Murray last played.

Thatcher DemkoReports indicate that Demko is a few days away from a return and may be available for Saturday's game against the Flyers. On December 3rd, we learned Demko would be sidelined for six weeks with a lower-body injury. More thantwo months later, it seems his return is finally imminent.

Logan Thompson – Vegas' netminder is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. Although he's expected to return during the regular season, he's not expected back any time soon. With Thompson sidelined, Adin Hill steps into a starting role while Laurent Brossoit plays backup.

Alex Ovechkin – The Capitals' Captain is currently away from the team. He's back home in Russia with his family as his father recently passed away.

Tom Wilson – Was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, which suggests he may be able to return soon. It's worth noting that it was an optional session, which means it probably wasn't as intense as it would have been if the whole team was participating. Although his participation is encouraging, he may need a regular practice before returning to the lineup. Wilson is officially day-to-day with a leg injury.

Connor Hellebuyck – An illness prevented him from playing against the Kraken on Tuesday, but he shouldn't miss any more action because of it. Hellebuyck was on the ice Wednesday and will travel to Columbus as the Jets face off against the Blue Jackets on Thursday.
