DFS Thursday: Golden Knights Standing Tall; Seattle Presenting Value

Wow, what a tense and exciting game between Tampa and Arizona last night! Not at all what I anticipated, how about you? In the shootout, Connor Ingram bested two of three likely Hall of Famers, and came out with the 47-save shutout. This isn't really fantasy relevant however, as Ingram is rostered in only 3% of Yahoo leagues. Just fantastic late-night entertainment.

Today, I'll again look to stack a couple of teams desperate to keep playoff hopes alive, and both out west, where only Dallas and Winnipeg look secure. The Seattle Kraken had that 7-0-0 road trip after New Year's, but have settled back into reality with  4-6-2 record since.   They sit two points from the Pacific Division lead, but just five points above the playoff sidelines.  It's time to put up or …

And yet for (DraftKings) wagering, Seattle stars are undervalued against the visiting Flyers. I'll take Jordan Eberle ($4900), Matty Beniers ($4800), and Vince Dunn ($5400) tonight. When the Kraken do win games, they do so with an offensive barrage of over 4.5 goals – when they lose, they can't find the net. So there's risk, as always.

The Vegas Golden Knights DO currently occupy the Pacific top spot, but they're two points ahead of wild card Edmonton in the closely-packed standings. They play San Jose tonight on the Strip. The Knights have lost two of three to the Sharks, both at home, but had won in the previous eleven meetings between these clubs. Look for Adin Hill ($8000) to get the victory, with Chandler Stephenson ($4400) and Alex Pietrangelo ($7300) finding the scoresheet.

This leaves me space for Blake Wheeler ($5100) at Columbus, and Stephan Noesen ($3200), on Carolina's top power play against Montreal. Wheeler has four goals and 11 points in the Jets' past eight contests.  My utility player becomes the hottest player in the NHL (and #1 over the past two weeks in Yahoo fantasy), Dylan Larkin ($6400). The Wings' captain has 6 goals, 9 points, 5 PPP, and 19 shots on goal since the All Star break.

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – The Wilkes-Jarry Penguins

Elizabeth and Lewis are back to take listeners through a host of power play changes that are giving managers the opportunity to get exposure to great players off the waiver wire, including Philly, Jersey, and Tampa talk. They also cover Jarry’s AHL demotion, Cooley’s ascension to the top-line and powerplay, and injuries to Tavares and Hintz. The duo wrap up with some hot and cold streak deep dives, including discussion of the Red Wings crazy powerplay success in the last ten games, whether Erik Gustafsson is rosterable or an overperforming illusion, Fantilli’s continued success, Merilainen as Hamburglar 2.0, and whether Schenn’s success and Neighbours’ lack thereof are likely to continue.
