Fantasy Impact: Coyotes Sign Alex Kerfoot

The Arizona Coyotes have signed winger Alex Kerfoot to a two-year deal worth $3.5M AAV.

The Coyotes get: a versatile, speedy winger who can chip in on any line and at either wing. He can also be used on either special teams unit.

Fantasy Players Impacted: Along with Jason Zucker and Nick Bjugstad, the Coyotes have added an entire line via free agency. You will likely see Bjugstad and Kerfoot man the third line, though Kerfoot will see occasional use in the top six. He essentially replaces Christian Fischer (who signed with Detroit) in the lineup. With this team, unless the player gets ice time alongside Clayton Keller, that player is capped at 45 or even 40 points. It is unlikely that Kerfoot gets that ice time, so there you have his cap.

He’s not going to take any ice time from Lawson Crouse nor Matias Maccelli. His addition will hurt the odds of lesser prospects such as Jan Jenik and Nathan Smith making the team, as well as journeyman Alex Galchenyuk. But this signing will have no impact on what the team does with top prospects Dylan Guenther and Logan Cooley.
