Gold Selection

New Jersey Devils @ Florida Panthers – Pick: Panthers ML (-200)

If you haven't been paying attention to the Florida Panthers of late, you're slipping – this team is very much for real and proving that last season's improbable run all the way to the Stanley Cup Final was no fluke. A major reason for Florida’s recent winning ways? A scorching hot Matthew Tkachuk, who has once again found his swagger and scoring touch – two things that permeate confidence throughout this Panthers group both on and off the ice.

Tkachuk is feeling it right now after a slow start to the season, putting up seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in just nine games. When he goes at this kind of clip, Florida is a very tough team to play against. We haven’t even touched on the hottest scorer in the league in Sam Reinhart.

Balanced scoring, consistent veteran blue-line play, and a rock solid Sergei Bobrovsky have the Cats closing in on top spot in the east only one point adrift of the beastly Boston Bruins. Aside from the obvious streak and the fact that Florida is absolutely cooking right now, New Jersey is a banged up and beleaguered bunch struggling to maintain playoff positioning in the ever-tough Metro Division. Head-to-head numbers also point to this matchup to be an amazing spot for the Panthers, as the Devils have dropped eight of their last 10 trips to South Florida.

Florida keeps rolling and pushes its win streak to double digits for my Gold Pick of the evening.

Silver Selection

Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Anytime Points (-120)

Remember when we all thought the Edmonton Oilers were a dumpster fire? Yeah, that was a mistake.

McDavid is playing motivated hockey and that is really bad news for the rest of the NHL, especially this Montreal Canadiens crew rolling into tonight's meeting with only three wins in their last 10 games. The Oilers, meanwhile, are looking to set a franchise record with a 10th consecutive victory. In fact, Edmonton is 17-3-0 over the last 20 and a stellar 19-6-0 since relieving Jay Woodcroft of his head coaching duties.

As for McJesus, what else can you say about the best hockey player on the planet other than exactly that? When 97 is on his game, there is not another guy in the NHL that can match him stride-for-stride. McDavid has 15 points on his current nine-game point streak and is up to 56 on the season so far, good enough for fifth in the NHL. In terms of his career against Montreal, the Oilers' talisman has 29 points in 23 regular season games and considering the Habs' tendency to allow goals in bunches, expect another big night from both McDavid and the rest of the Oilers supporting cast.

Bronze Selection

Colorado Avalanche @ Toronto Maple Leafs – Pick: Over 6.5 (-130)

Looks like an over, smells like an over, must be … an over? Okay, cliches and poor intros aside, this matchup between two offensive juggernauts in the Avs and Maple Leafs has all the makings of being a barnburner. A matchup featuring two of the hottest and most exciting young offensive talents in the game today in Nathan MacKinnon and Auston Matthews also fuels our confidence in the over, but a quick look into these teams' numbers and we are liking this spot for a high-scoring affair that much more.

The total has gone over the number in seven of the last nine meetings between these two. The Avs sit second in the NHL in scoring and the Leafs in a tie for seventh, and Matthews and MacKinnon are ready to pop off once again. No disrespect to either Martin Jones or Alexandar Georgiev, but we have a distinct feeling (and the numbers back us up) this is going to be a really long night for goalies.

This number could easily be up to seven by puck drop, so jump on it early or don't be afraid to tease it back down for reduced odds. Either way, the lamp's getting lit early and often in this one.

Side Bets

Auston Matthews Anytime Goal (-105)

Edmonton Oilers @ Montreal Canadiens – Pick: Oilers ML (-220)

Matthew Tkachuk Over 1.5 Points (+180)
