Lining Up: Peterka’s Surge; Garland’s Production; Anaheim’s Top Scoring Line

Welcome back to another edition of Lining Up! With every team likely to be in the middle of fantasy playoff season at this point, we will take a deep look at the line combinations of teams who specifically play on off-nights this week. Given the dense schedule, there are only four games left this week that are not on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday. There is Boston v. Tampa Bay and Ottawa v. Buffalo on Wednesday, New Jersey v. Buffalo on Friday and Anaheim v. Vancouver on Sunday. So if you are looking for a player to stream in then these matchups are your best bets given that your roster may be full on the other nights.

Let's dive in.

Tampa Bay

With Victor Hedman and Brayden Point out of the lineup, Tampa rolled with a power play unit of Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Nicholas Paul and Brandon Hagel, with Darren Raddysh running it from the point. Paul, Hagel and Raddysh should all be targets for the divisional tilt against Boston tomorrow. Raddysh in particular is getting a golden opportunity to play alongside Tampa Bay's superstars with the man advantage. Paul has also moved into Point's spot at even strength to play with Stamkos and Athony Duclair, and so should be a strong option to stream in tomorrow.

Boston

Taking a look at Boston, there are a few targets for the game against Tampa Bay:

Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha are both currently playing on the top power play unit with Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak as well as holding down roles in the top six with one of the two players. Zacha is pointless in his last two games but went on a run with 11 points in the previous eight games prior to that. However, the best option at the moment is Jake DeBrusk who, despite not seeing time on the top power play unit, is enjoying a hot streak of ten points in his last eight games. During that span, he is up to just over three shots and nearly two hits per game in what is some solid category coverage. All three players are under 50% rostered in Yahoo leagues with Zacha being the lowest at 39%, but DeBrusk should be your target for a Wednesday night stream given his recent stretch.

Ottawa

Ottawa has a few noteworthy line combinations from their last few games as seen below:

Jakob Chychrun and Jake Sanderson have usurped a spot on the top power play unit together. The change has moved Thomas Chabot and Claude Giroux down to the second unit which will not help their value moving forward. Shane Pinto has found himself in a great situation though and has been lining up with Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson lately. He is pointless in his last two games but has been having a very solid season, on pace for 59 points and averaging nearly three shots per game.

Perhaps the most interesting player however is Angus Crookshank, who is currently between Giroux and Tim Stutzle on the second line. Ottawa is rewarding the rookie with some opportunity to showcase his talent and he currently has three points in his first nine games. Most recently though, he scored a goal on the weekend against New Jersey and saw over 13 minutes of TOI in both games. If you are in a deep league he could be worth a gamble while he is in a great spot but otherwise the focus should be on the above players if a stream is needed.

Buffalo

Buffalo was touched on last week but the big change since then has been JJ Peterka climbing up the lineup. In the last game against Calgary, he joined the top line with Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson as well as on the top power play unit along with Jordan Greenway. The move necessitated Bowen Byram being removed from that unit, and Peterka was seen skating with Dylan Cozens and a returning Jack Quinn at practice on Tuesday. He is rostered in 19% of Yahoo leagues at the moment and is a prime target on a Buffalo squad that is the only team who will play two games on off nights for the remainder of the week. If Peterka is unavailable, consider Greenway as a backup option.

New Jersey

Here is a look at New Jersey's line combinations over their last three games:

There are not many targets here for Friday's game against Buffalo as the top four forwards are locked in on the power play and heavily owned in most leagues. Luke Hughes is still running that unit and is also heavily owned. Otherwise, Erik Haula and Alexander Holtz are both lining up with Jack Hughes and may be good options. Haula has two points in his last three games and is seeing a lot of ice time both short handed and on the second power play unit. Meanwhile, Holtz has two goals in four games although is seeing much more limited ice time than Haula, so he would be a lesser option. Haula is 8% rostered in Yahoo leagues, so he is readily available if you are looking for someone from New Jersey.

Vancouver

Looking at Vancouver's game last night against L.A, two names stand out: Conor Garland and Pius Suter.  In the month of March, Garland has eight points in 10 games including four points in the last four outings. He is also taking nearly three shots per game over that stretch and is currently lining up alongside Elias Pettersson and Nils Hoglander. Moreover, he is even getting looks on the top power play unit.

To a lesser extent, Suter is splitting that duty on the top unit with Garland although was on the fourth line last night. He has been cold lately but if Elias Lindholm continues to miss some time, he could be a desperate option for owners on Sunday with a soft matchup against Anaheim. Both players are less than 20% rostered in Yahoo leagues at the moment.

Anaheim

There is not much to be excited about in Anaheim for the remainder of the season, but if you are looking to stream in someone, the top two lines have recently looked like this:

Alex Killorn – Troy Terry – Leo Carlsson

Ryan Strome – Frank Vatrano – Mason McTavish

The Strome, Vatrano and McTavish line has been consistently deployed together this year and Vatrano and Strome have been on a 1A power play unit lately as Anaheim seems to be dividing the time 60/40 between two units so those should be your targets. Vatrano in particular at least can provide solid peripheral production as he has had at least five shots in his last eight games with the exception of one zero shot game.
