Fantasy Take: Kings Acquire Jeannot From Lightning

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired forward Tanner Jeannot from the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 118th overall pick in this year's draft (Jan Golicic) and a 2025 second-round pick.
What Los Angeles Receives
Jeannot, a banger extraordinaire, who was originally acquired by Tampa Bay from Nashville for five draft picks and Cal Foote. Jeannot was held to just 14 points in 55 games last season, as he battled a lower-body injury. Jeannot flew onto the fantasy radar in 2021-22 when he scored 24 goals and 41 points while delivering 318 hits. Since then, Jeannot's scoring has declined, but he has registered at least 200 hits in each of the past two seasons.
Jeannot simply isn't a top-line player, but he can be a valuable player in bangers leagues if he can simply score at least 30 points while maintaining his current level of hits. His value shouldn't change that much in LA, while a fresh start and perhaps even a fairly decent bottom-6 with the Kings could help with his offensive numbers. He also provides a physical element that the Kings didn't seem to have among their forward group in 2023-24, so expect his icetime to increase from the 12:01 he averaged in 2023-24.
What Tampa Bay Receives
Golicic, a defenseman who played for Gatineau in the QMJHL in 2023-24. A second-round pick in next season's draft to help restock the cupboard after years of trading draft picks to stay in contention.
Everything is fluid at this time of year, but shedding the contracts of Jeannot and Mikhail Sergachev may create the necessary room to re-sign long-time Bolt Steven Stamkos. Yet at the moment, Lightning GM Julien BriseBois has stated that no agreement is in place with Stamkos and the plan is still for him to test free agency.
