Happy Holidays and an early Happy New Year!

I thought it would be interesting to see what player(s) (prospects) each team in the Western Conference had in this year’s WJC. Hopefully, this might help you get an update on some of your prospects or give you a heads up on some available ones in your pools.

St. Louis leads the West with 11 players representing their countries while Calgary, Colorado and Winnipeg have just one player at the tournament. 59 players represent the Western Conference.

Anaheim Ducks (4)

Austin Burnevik – F – USA

Burnevik was a 6th round pick by the Ducks in 2024. He is at St. Cloud State and has nine goals and seven assists in 17 games in 2024-25.

Burnevik has played three games and is pointless with four shots on goal (SOG) and is a minus one while averaging 11:42 per game.

Carey Terrance – F – USA

Terrance was a 2nd round pick by the Ducks in 2023 and has 14 goals and 12 assists in 29 games with the Erie Otters in the OHL.

Terrance has two goals on eight SOG in three games, with six penalty minutes and is a plus one while averaging 12:11 per game.

Darels Uljanskis – D – Latvia

Uljanskis was a 7th-round pick by Anaheim in 2024. He is playing for AIK Jr. in the Swedish Junior League where he has five goals and 16 assists in 27 games.

Uljanskis has played three games for the upstart Latvians and is pointless with two penalty minutes while averaging over 17 minutes per game.

Vojtech Port – D – Czechia

Port was a 5th-round pick in 2023 by the Ducks and has split his time between Moose Jaw and Lethbridge in the WHL where he has posted five assists in 27 games.

Port has four assists in three games and thanks to the lopsided victory over Kazakhstan he is a plus eight and is averaging over 15 minutes per game.

Calgary Flames (1)

Axel Hurtig – D – Sweden

Hurtig was drafted in the 7th round by the Flames and is playing in North America in 2024-25 with the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL. He has two goals and five assists in 28 games.

Hurtig has one assist in three games and is a plus two while averaging 12:09 per game.

Chicago Blackhawks (2)

Oliver Moore – F – USA

Moore was the 19th overall pick in 2023 and is playing at the University of Minnesota where he has five goals and 12 assists in 20 games. He had 33 points in 39 games in 2023-24. This is his second WJC tournament (he had three points in seven games in 2024).

Moore has two assists and nine SOG in three games and is a plus two while averaging 14:28 per game.

Jiri Felcman – F – Czechia

Felcman is a 3rd round pick from 2023 and is playing in the Swiss-A league with the Langnau Tigers. He has seven assists in 26 games.

Felcman has two assists in three games and is a plus three while averaging just over 15 minutes per game.

Colorado Avalanche (1)

Callum Ritchie – F – Canada

Ritchie was the 27th overall pick in 2023 and has had a great start to 2024-25 with 34 points in 18 games with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. He played seven games with the Avalanche at the start of the campaign and scored his first NHL goal.

Ritchie has one goal and one assist in three games and is a plus four. He has averaged just under 17 minutes per game.

Dallas Stars (2)

Aram Minnetian – D – USA

Minnetian was a fourth-round pick by Dallas in 2023. He is in his second year at Boston College and has one goal and four assists in 16 games.

Minnetian has played two games for the USA and is pointless with one SOG and is a minus one while averaging 14:20 per game.

Emil Hemming – F – Finland

Hemming was the 29th overall pick in 2024 and is playing with the Barrie Colts in the OHL where he has five goals and 15 assists in 30 games. This is his second WJC with Finland (he had two assists in seven games in 2024).

Hemming has gone pointless after three games and is a minus two with eight SOG while averaging 13:40 per game.

Edmonton Oilers (2)

Paul Fischer – D – USA

Fischer was a 5th-round pick by the St. Louis Blues in 2023. He has nine assists in 18 games with Notre Dame in the Big-10.

Fischer has one assist and one SOG in two games and is a minus one. Fischer has averaged just 5:44 of ice time in the two games he has dressed.

Beau Akey – D – Canada

Akey was a 2nd round pick by the Oilers in 2023. He is playing with the Barrie Colts of the OHL and has 19 points in 25 games.

Akey is pointless after three games and is a plus one. He has averaged just over six minutes per game.

Los Angeles Kings (3)

Hampton Slukynsky – G – USA

Slukynsky was a 4th round pick by the Kings in 2023. He is currently at Western Michigan University where he has a record of 3-3-1 with a save percentage of 94.1.

Slukynsky made 25 saves on 26 SOG in winning his only start of the tournament.


Carter George – G – Canada

George was a 2nd round pick by Los Angeles in 2024. He is playing in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack and has a record of 4-13-5 and a save percentage of 90.5 this year.

He has started twice for Canada and has two wins with two shutouts. He has stopped all 56 SOG he has faced.

Jakub Dvorak D – Czechia

Dvorak was a 2nd round pick in 2023 and has been playing in the AHL with the Ontario Reign for 14 games where he has produced three assists. In 2023-24, he played 21 games with Swift Current in the WHL.

Dvorak has one goal in three games on two SOG while averaging just under 16 minutes per game.

Minnesota Wild (3)

Zeev Buium – D – USA

Buium was the 12th overall pick in 2024. He is in his second year at the University of Denver where he has 20 points in 18 games. This is second WJC (he had three goals and two assists in seven games in 2024).

Buium has one goal in three games on two SOG and is a plus four while averaging 25:32 per game.

Aron Kiviharju – D – Finland

Kiviharju was born in Denmark but is eligible to play for Finland. He was a 4th round pick in 2024 by the Wild and is playing in the Finnish Liiga for HIFK Helsinki where he has three goals and eight assists in 32 games.

Kiviharju has one assist in three games and is a minus three while averaging 19:27 per game.

Sebastian Soini – D – Finland

Soini was a 5th round pick by the Wild in 2024. He is playing with Ilves Tampere in the Finnish Liiga but has dressed for just nine games this year with one goal. He played just six games in 2023-24 and three in 2022-23.

Soini has played just one game for Finland and is pointless while playing just 9:48.

Rasmus Kumpulainen – F – Finland

Kumpulainen was a 2nd round pick in 2023 for Minnesota and is currently playing for the Pelicans in the Liiga where he has three goals and eight assists in 29 games. This is his second WJC (he had two goals in seven games in 2024).

Kumpulainen has one assist in two games with five SOG while averaging 13:52.

Nashville Predators (8)

Teddy Stiga – F – USA

Stiga was a 2nd round pick by Nashville in 2024. He is in his first year at Boston College and has four goals and seven assists in 16 games.

Stiga has two assists in two games and is a plus two while averaging 9:05 per game.

Joey Willis – F – USA

Willis was a 4th round pick by the Predators in 2023. He plays for the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL and has 17 goals and 17 assists in 26 games.

Willis has two assists in two games and is a plus three while averaging just 4:52 per game.

Andrew Gibson – D – Canada

Gibson was a 2nd round pick by Detroit in 2023 who was traded to Nashville. He plays for the Soo Greyhounds and has four goals and three assists in 26 games.

Gibson has been held pointless in three games so far and is a plus two. He's averaged just over 21 minutes per game.

Tanner Molendyk – D – Canada

Molendyk was the 24th overall pick in 2023 and plays for the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL. He has four goals and 17 assists in 21 games.

Molendyk has yet to record a point in three games and is a plus one while averaging just over 21 minutes per game.

Jakub Milota – G – Czechia

Milota was a 4th round pick by Nashville in 2024. He plays for Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL where he has a record of 11-10-3 with a save percentage of 90.8.

Milota has yet to dress for Czechia after three games.

Viggo Gustafsson – D – Sweden

Gustafsson was a 3rd round pick by the Predators in 2024. He has split time between HV71 and Timra in the SweHL where has one goal and one assist in 15 games.

Gustafsson has two assists and three SOG in three games and is a plus two while averaging 12:26 per game.

David Edstrom – F – Sweden

Edstrom was the 32nd overall pick in 2023 by Vegas. He plays for Frolunda HC in the SweHL where he has four goals and nine assists in 22 games. This is his second WJC (he had three assists in seven games in 2024).

Edstrom has a goal and two assists and six SOG in three games while averaging 18:49 per game.

Felix Nilsson – F – Sweden

Nilsson was a 2nd round pick in 2023 by Nashville and plays for Rogle BK in the SweHL. He has one goal and 11 assists in 20 games.

Nilsson has one goal and one assist on five SOG in three games while averaging 17:11 per game.

San Jose Sharks (4)

Brandon Svoboda – F – USA

Svoboda was a 3rd round pick by the Sharks in 2023. He is in his first year at Boston University and has three goals in 14 games. He had two points in his first ever WJC game.

Svoboda has a goal and two assists on three SOG in three games and is a plus one while averaging 9:57 per game.

Sam Dickinson – D – Canada

Dickinson was the 11th overall pick in 2024. He plays for the London Knights in the OHL and has 15 goals and 31 assists in 26 games and is on pace for over 120 points as a defender.

Dickinson has one assist in three games, with four SOG and is a plus one. He has averaged over 17 minutes per game.

Kasper Halttunen – F – Finland

Halttunen was a 2nd round pick (36th overall) by the Sharks in 2023. He split time in 2024-25 between the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL (6-2-2-4) and the London Knights in the OHL (9-2-4-6). This is his second WJC for Finland (he had three goals and three assists in seven games in 2024).

Halttunen has just one assist in three games with five SOG and is averaging 16:53 per game.

Christian Kirsch – G – Switzerland

Kirsch was a 4th round pick of the Sharks in 2024. He has played nine games for the Janesville Jets in the NAHL where he has a record of 3-6-0 with a save percentage of 92.5.

Kirsch has started twice for Switzerland has picked up two losses while making 54 saves on 60 SOG which gives him a 90.0 save percentage.

Seattle Kraken (8)

Caden Price – D – Canada

Price was a 3rd round pick by the Kraken in 2023. He plays for the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL and has six goals and 26 assists in 26 games.

Price has a goal and an assist in three games with six SOG and posting a plus three. He has averaged just over 16 minutes per game.

Berkly Catton – F – Canada

Catton was the 8th overall pick in 2024. He plays for the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL and has 14 goals and 33 assists in 28 games.

Catton has one assist in three games on 16 SOG while averaging just over 15 minutes per game.

Carson Rehkopf – F – Canada

Rehkopf was a 2nd round (50th overall) pick in 2023. He plays for the Brampton Steelheads in the OHL where he has 20 goals and 27 assists in 27 games. This is his second WJC (he had two goals and two assists in five games in 2024). He might be hard-pressed to dress for Canada in 2025.

Rehkopf dressed for one game and played just 7:48. He was held without a SOG or a point.

Kim Saarinen – G – Finland

Saarinen was a 3rd round pick by Seattle in 2024. He plays for HPK Hameenlinna in the Liiga where he has played 14 games and has a save percentage of 89.6.

Saarinen has dressed for two games but has yet to see the ice for Finland after three games.

Julius Miettinen – F – Finland

Miettinen was a 2nd round (40th overall) pick in 2024. He plays for the Everett Silvertips in the WHL and has 10 goals and 24 assists in 30 games.

Miettinen has one goal on nine SOG after three games and is averaging 15:56 per game.

Jakub Fibigr – D – Czechia

Fibigr was a 7th round pick in 2024. He plays for the Brampton Steelheads in the OHL and has two goals and 13 assists in 27 games.

Fibigr has five assists in three games while averaging just over 16 minutes per game.

Eduard Sale – F – Czechia

Sale was the 20th overall pick in 2023. He is playing in the AHL for the Coachella Valley Firebirds and has four goals and nine assists in 23 games as a 19-year old. This is his third WJC (he put up six points in seven games in 2023 and seven points in seven games in 2024).

Sale has three goals and two assists on nine SOG in three games while averaging 17:30 per game.

Zeb Forsfjall – F – Sweden

Forsfjall was a 6th round pick for the Kraken in 2023. He plays for Skelleftea AIK in the SweHL where he has one goal and five assists in 25 games. This is his second WJC (he had one assist in seven games in 2024).

Forsfjall has one goal and three assists on three SOG in three games while averaging just over 15 minutes per game.

St. Louis Blues (9)

Colin Ralph – D – USA

Ralph was a 2nd round (48th overall) pick by the Blues in 2024. He plays for St. Cloud State and has one goal and three assists in 17 games.

Ralph has one assist and three SOG in three games and is a minus one while averaging 12:42 per game.

Adam Jiricek – D – Czechia

Jiricek was the 16th overall pick in 2024. He has played just six games in 2024-25 with the Brantford Bulldogs of the OHL where he has two goals and one assist. This is his second WJC (he played one game in 2024).

Jiricek has one assist in three games and is a plus five while averaging 16:45 per game.

Adam Jecho – F – Czechia

Jecho was a 3rd round pick by St. Louis in 2024. He plays for the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL and has nine goals and 15 assists in 26 games.

Jecho has one goal and two assists on four SOG in three games while averaging 9:35 per game.

Ondrej Kos – F – Czechia

Kos was a 3rd round pick for the Blues in 2024. He plays for Ilves Tampere in the Finnish Liiga. He has two goals and one assist in 13 games.

Kos has one goal on one SOG in three games while averaging just under 10 minutes per game.

Jakub Stancl – F – Czechia

Stancl was a 4th round pick in 2023 for St. Louis. He plays in the WHL for the Kelowna Rockets and has 11 goals and 21 assists in 26 games. This is his second WJC (he had four goals and two assists in seven games in 2024).

Stancl has four goals and three assists on 16 SOG, while being a plus eight in three games. He has averaged just under 15 minutes per game.

Theo Lindstein – D – Sweden

Lindstein was the 29th overall pick in 2023 for the Blues. He plays for Brynas IF in the SweHL where he has two goals and two assists in 23 games. This is his second WJC (he had two goals and six assists in seven games in 2024).

Lindstein has two assists and six SOG in three games while averaging 19:44 per game.

Otto Stenberg – F – Sweden

Stenberg was the 25th overall pick in 2023 for the Blues. He plays for Malmo in the SweHL where he has three goals and three assists in 25 games. This is his second WJC (he had five goals and four assists in seven games in 2024).

Stenberg has one goal and three assists with 12 SOG in three games while averaging 17:30 per game.

Dalibor Dvorsky – F – Slovakia

Dvorsky was the 10th overall pick in 2023 and is the third first-round pick from that draft year at the WJC in 2025 representing the Blues. He plays for the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL at the age of 19 and has put up 11 goals and 10 assists in 27 games. This is his fourth WJC (he had two points in four games in 2022; three points in five games in 2023 and six points in five games in 2024).

Dvorsky has two goals and one assist in three games on 10 SOG. He has averaged 22:37 per game.

Juraj Pekarcik – F – Slovakia

Pekarcik was a 3rd round pick in 2023. He plays for the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL where he has 12 goals and 23 assists in 29 games. This is his second WJC ( he had one goal and two assists in five games in 2024).

Pekarcik has one assist in three games with just one SOG while averaging 21:52.

Utah Hockey Club (5)

Cole Beaudoin – F – Canada

Beaudoin was the 24th overall pick in 2024. He plays for the Barrie Colts in the OHL and has 13 goals and 16 assists in 24 games.

Beaudoin has one assist on four SOG in three games. He's averaged just over 11 minutes per game.

Veeti Vaisanen – D – Finland

Vaisanen was a 3rd round pick for Utah in 2024. He plays for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL and has one goal and eight assists in 29 games.

Vaisanen is pointless and is a minus two after three games while averaging 13:46 per game.

Michael Hrabal – G – Czechia

Hrabal was a 2nd round (38th overall) pick in 2023 for Utah. He plays for UMass-Amherst and has a record of 8-6-2 with a save percentage of 91.7. This is his second WJC for Czechia after representing them in 2024 for seven games.

Hrabal has started two of the three games for Czechia and has two wins to show for it. He has made 50 saves on 53 SOG for a 94.3 save percentage.

Vojtech Hradec – F – Czechia

Hradec was a 6th-round pick by Utah in 2024. He plays for Mlada Boleslav in the Czech League where he has two goals and five assists in 20 games.

Hradec has four goals and three assists on 10 SOG in three games while averaging just under 19 minutes per game.

Melker Thelin – G – Sweden

Thelin was a 5th round pick in 2023 and plays for Bjorkloven IF in the Swe-1 league. He has a record of 9-2-0 with a save percentage of 90.7. This is his second WJC after playing seven games for Sweden in 2024.

Thelin has started in two games and won both games, but he sits with an 86.54 save percentage.

Vancouver Canucks (3)

Sawyer Mynio – D – Canada

Mynio was a 3rd round pick for Vancouver in 2023. He plays for the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL and has five goals and 14 assists in 18 games.

Mynio saw his first game with Canada in their 3-0 win over Germany on Sunday. He had an assist and played 11:56.

Tom Willander – D – Sweden

Willander was the 11th overall pick in 2023 and plays at Boston University where he had two goals and seven assists in 16 games. This is his second WJC (he had one goal and two assists in seven games in 2024).

Willander has two goals and three assists with eight SOG in three games while averaging 21:13 per game.

Basile Sansonnens – D – Switzerland

Sansonnens was a 7th round pick in 2024 for the Canucks. He plays for the Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL and has three assists in 25 games.

Sansonnens is pointless after three games and has averaged 15:56 per game. 

Vegas Golden Knights (3)

Trevor Connelly – F – USA

Connelly was the 19th overall pick in 2024. He plays for Providence College and has three goals and eight assists in 12 games.

Connelly has a goal and an assist and eight SOG in three games and is a plus two while averaging 12:55 per game.

Tuomas Uronen – F – Finland

Uronen was a 6th round pick in 2023 by the Golden Knights. He plays for the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL. He has 16 goals and 23 assists in 31 games.

Uronen scored the overtime goal to beat the USA on Sunday and has one goal and one assist on 12 SOG in three games while averaging 13:31 per game.

Mathieu Cataford – F – Canada

Cataford was a 3rd round pick by Vegas in 2023. He plays for the Rimouski Oceanic and has 11 goals and 27 assists in 27 games.

Cataford has one goal on one SOG in three games. He has averaged just over nine minutes per game.

Winnipeg Jets (1)

Brayden Yager – F – Canada

Yager was the 14th overall pick by Pittsburgh in 2023. He has split 2024-25 between Moose Jaw and Lethbridge in the WHL and has 12 goals and 22 assists in 23 games. This is his second WJC (he had two goals and three assists in five games in 2024).

Yager has been held without a point in three games. He has four SOG and is a plus one and has averaged almost 18 minutes per game. Canada will need some offense from him if they hope to win.
