DFS Thursday: Goals From Detroit and Columbus; Vegas Options At Home; Werenski, Makar, and More

Good day, DFS squad! I haven't really played much DFS this week, but you know I have to dive in today. This is a real interesting slate here because there are a couple smash spots here with Winnipeg at home vs Anaheim and Tampa on the road vs San Jose, but the rest of these games might get fair roster numbers on either side. I went up and down the schedule today and think I found some matchups here that I might try and attack to get a little bit of a different build in for tonight.
Slate Preview
Detroit vs Columbus
The Red Wings have scored four goals in each of their last two games and have looked better since moving on to their new head coach. Hand up, I have not played a single Red Wings stack yet this season, but tonight may just change that for me. Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond are each $6,100 and have both gotten points in the last three games out. I really do like this two-man stack tonight and if you want to pair them with someone on the blue line here for a two forward, one defensemen stack, I'm all for it. I don't think I would full-on power play stack Detroit, but I do think that for right now, this is a club that could get overlooked here tonight. In single entry I have this two-man circled here and wouldn't be surprised if I got them in my lineup.
Let's now talk about Columbus. Sean Monahan ($6,400) got a zero in DK points two games ago and went up in price by $1K. Has that ever once happened? I like adding him in as my center along with Kirill Marchenko ($6,300) and Dmitri Voronkov ($4,900) because of the correlation at all strengths, but the three of them are starting to price themselves up a little higher than I'd want. I like the Monahan line here tonight, but I'm having trouble thinking about my build and rostering him at that price. For Columbus here if you wanted to take the top-line wings, I think that's fine here tonight. If I'm rostering the Jackets, it's probably only the first line that I have interest in, outside of the blueline which we'll get to here in a little bit. Spoiler: Rostering Zach Werenski is always fine in my book.
Ottawa vs Dallas
This might be game of the night for me, as I really like this spot here for Ottawa and it's their lines and pricing that are driving that interest. Right now, Shane Pinto is centering the Sens top line and is only $3K tonight. Even if he's not going to skate on the power play with Brady Tkachuk ($8,900), he will with Ridly Greig who is also $3K. If that line stays together and is not broken up, you could even just take Pinto and Greig as fillers tonight. If you're not sure where to go on defense as well, this is a spot where I don't mind going double defensemen and adding in Jake Sanderson ($4,500) and Thomas Chabot ($4,300). I get it, going into Dallas hasn't been the easiest of tasks this season, but we don't have to go back that far to when the Senators looked great at times on their western Canada road trip. If I'm single-entering tonight, then I'm considering this Ottawa team as there are so many ways I can build around them.
For Dallas…I've just been burned too many times with this club this season and am staying away here tonight. Their prices are very manageable, and this has been a good team on home ice, but the scoring has been spread out for them this season, and it feels like rostering Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz, gets you around 6.5 DK points each. If they sneak their way into your build, there are worse spots, but I'm just staying away for now. With that, I'd like to congratulate Jason Roberston on his eventual hat-trick. Way to go, and way to get all three before time expires in the second period!
Philadelphia vs Vegas
In my head I'm trying to talk out rostering any of these Flyers lines, but I have no idea what this club is going to do come warmups and if they fall behind early, your guess could be as good as mine. I know for these DFS articles I try and advise different strategies, and maybe here it's just stay away from the Flyers for the time being? If you're playing 20 lineups and a Travis Konecny one-off comes up more than once that's fine, but that would be about the extent of interest that I'd have in the Flyers.
Here we go again. Vegas is at home which automatically piques my interest. Jack Eichel ($8,700) hasn't been filling the net as much lately, but the assists are their and so are the shots for the shot bonus. At his price, it feels like I can almost lock in 10 points off the bat, and at home both him and Mark Stone ($6,800) are in my single-entry consideration here. Even adding in Tomas Hertl at $5K is fine if you want to have a three-forward stack off the same club, and while this group might not see much time at even strength, they will on the man advantage. Another way to get unique as well could be rostering Ivan Barbashev if he's active here tonight, but that would require keeping an eye on warmups or whatever news we get from the coach prior to the game to make a late pivot if you need to do so.
Defensemen
If you find yourself here tonight with an extra $8,600 just lying around, then I'd say that either Cale Makar or Zach Werenski are fine plays. South of that, Victor Hedman is in an excellent spot going into San Jose and is $7K and will likely see around 24 minutes of ice time. I don't mind Moritz Seider at $6,100 but would only roster him with whatever Red Wings stack you have; I can't see paying that much for him as a one-off tonight. Noah Dobson at $6K has been excellent lately with double-digit DK points in four of the Islanders' last five games, and that's with the Islanders being maybe one of the worst clubs on ice in that stretch. Seriously Islanders. Buddy. Pal.
Dropping down a bit, Brent Burns at $4,100 is fine here, and for punt defensemen Erik Brannstrom down at $3,200 may run the Vancouver top power play with Quinn Hughes out of the lineup tonight.
Goalies
It just feels like a tough goaltending night for some odd reason when Charlie Lindgren is $8K. I don't mind Thatcher Demko at $7,400 as he might see some volume here tonight, and just below him I like Ilya Sorokin at $7,300. Keeping right in line here Jonathan Quick at $7,200 and Pyotr Kochetkov at that same price are each in my mix here tonight as I can't see myself dropping down to the very bottom for my goaltender here on this slate.
Good luck tonight everybody!
