Good day to my DFS crew out there from sunny Chicago on the first day of March! I think you've come to the right place for DFS excellence as Thursday I entered into a one-dollar single-entry tournament and won…two dollars. Like to thank the Philadelphia Flyers for helping me reach the summit.
Really though, Thursday was a close the laptop early night because of fantasy, but we're back today on a slate that is…I'll go with weird. I might be going against the grain on this one, but if anything, it'll put me on a very unique path to the cash or having that little snowflake next to the player's total on DK.

San Jose Sharks
Can I interest anyone into playing some Sharks? Over the past month, Ottawa is giving up more shots on goal per 60 than the Blackhawks. Noted. I'm not going to try and find an angle on a depth line or anything, my interest is in the first line, and the first line alone of William Eklund at $4,900, Tyler Toffoli at that same price, and Macklin Celebrini at $6,400, who finally has his picture on DK. Going to miss the Sharks logo next to his name. This line is playing big minutes and is fully correlated, and any line with those two parameters catches my eye. I'm a little surprised at how many shots on goal the Sens are allowing as they've surprisingly been one of the more defensively sound teams we've had at points during this regular season. In my single entry I can see getting to parts of San Jose in my build, it just depends what games I want wingers from and which I prefer the centers.
Edmonton Oilers
I watched bits and pieces of Edmonton's recent game against Florida, and the Panthers did both a good job at slowing down the Edmonton top six, along with getting extremely lucky on plays where Connor McDavid somehow skates past three defenders and is in a spot like he was to win Four Nations. If you watch the Oilers, you know what type of plays I'm talking about. Tonight, they're on the road in Carolina and what's drawing me to them is price. I think that's the first time I've said that about an Oilers top line since maybe 2019 where the top line had James Neal and Zach Kassian skating on it. Today I might not overthink this and take Connor McDavid at $8,200 and Leon Draisaitl at $7,900, we may not get a chance to get either of these two at those prices. These dips won't buy themselves! Typically, in DFS, I like to get scoring from the center spot, it's harder to find those players as a lot of times the center on some of these power plays touches the puck last or isn't as involved in the play. The tier of C's as well usually drops off at a certain point early in the player pool, whereas wings you can usually find much cheaper and in good spots. In single entry, I can see myself trying to force in some Edmonton but if I'm playing them, I'm not going to one-off McDavid as that's something that is common enough in DFS that I want to make my lineup a little bit different.
Anaheim Ducks
Luke Richardson was really the problem for the Hawks, wasn't he? I don't care what the score ended up being in the Hawks most recent game versus Las Vegas, this club looks awful. They have the second worst shots against per 60 over the last month, and if Petr Mrazek gets the start, he has been among the five worst goalies in xGA and GSAA over the last 30 days. I know that much of that time was spent on break, but the small sample we have prior to and coming back is not encouraging. Informercial commentator – But that's not all! Hawks are on the road, where it's almost an automatic loss. Granted, this club isn't much better on home ice, but on the road they either start slow and allow two goals or play excellent for about six minutes before completely falling flat. For me, we get a Ducks top line of Frank Vatrano ($7,300), Troy Terry at ($6,800) and Ryan Strome at $4,800 who are going to skate together at even strength and power play. With Jason Dickinson out, and that checking line getting patched together, there's not much that worries me from Chicago at all. Go Ducks. In single-entry I'm sure I'll try to get to some mix of Anaheim and in the meantime would like to bring in the Bob's from Office Space and ask Jaime Faulkner, "What would ya say…ya do here?"
Defensemen
My ceiling tonight is probably Evan Bouchard at $6K, and that's if I'm playing Edmonton or fading them, I don't mind getting to Bouchard at that price. Jake Walman is always someone I circle; I don't mind him at $5,300. Just below him at $5,200 I like Mikhail Sergachev going up against the Devils. Going down aways, Lane Hutson at $4,200 is a fine play at $4,200 and at the same price Mario Ferraro is there and ready to block shots, he also fits perfect with any San Jose stack that you may building. I know that I just got done bashing the Hawks, but I don't mind Alex Vlasic at $3,500, as he should play big minutes tonight.
Goalies
As much as I love to play Connor Hellebuyck at home, $8,400 is a little steep for me. If Joey Daccord gets the start against Vancouver tonight, I don't mind going in that direction but can see him being a popular play tonight. Pickings are thin tonight, but I honestly don't mind taking either San Jose goaltender at $6,900.
Good luck tonight everybody!
