Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday I will be chauffeuring you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. I'll do my best to offer useful analysis and opinion as it relates to fantasy throughout. As always I’d like to thank every single one of you for reading. Now, on to the bad (and some good) news.
Sean Monahan / CBJ – Monahan (wrist) has been out of the lineup for Columbus since early January. Sean has since returned to action via a full practice with the squad this morning (Wednesday). Monahan was enjoying a career high in his numbers nearly across the board including a P/60 of 2.97 which is absurd. To put that into perspective, Mcdavid has only beat that mark twice in his career, and during this down season is only at a 2.33 P/60.
Thatcher Demko / VAN – Demko (lower body) will travel with Vancouver on its upcoming six-game road trip. This comes after a very depressing season for Thatcher. Injury troubles have really derailed what was a promising Vancouver team. Even if Demko makes it back before the playoffs I have little faith that he will stick around for long in the lineup and about the same belief that he will help your fantasy team if he is in the lineup.
Shea Theodore / VGK – Theodore (wrist) returned to practice Tuesday wearing a non-contact jersey. Shea was injured in the first game of the Four Nations tournament playing for team Canada and has been out of the Vegas lineup ever since. Noah Hanifin has been filling in nicely for the injured Theodore. Shea put up 48 points in 55 games this season before injury and ran the top power play for the Golden Knights. Chances are if he is fully healthy he will take the power play back from Hanifin.
Tyler Seguin / DAL – Head coach Peter Deboer relayed that Seguin (hip) is making progress in his recovery and is on track to be back at some point during the regular season or playoffs.
Seguin was enjoying his most effective season since the 2020-21' season. Tyler only played 19 games and totaled 20 points before injury.
Miro Heiskanen / DAL – Heiskanen (knee) will probably be unavailable for the opening round of the playoffs, according to Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine on Tuesday. A devastating update on Miro as Dallas needs their missing pieces back on defense amidst the hoopla of them becoming a team to beat. The stars got significantly more dangerous upfront after the deadline where they added Mikko Rantanen and immediately signed him to an 8 x 12 million dollar contract.
Colton Parayko / STL – Parayko (knee) had a scope done and he will most likely miss the rest of the season as he will have the injury reevaluated in six weeks. Parayko has been good for 35 points in 62 games played. Tough time for him to go down considering he is having a career year. Parayko is still not driving play and gets outchanced while he is on the ice but he was putting up 1.27 points per 60.
Connor Ingram / UTA – Ingram (personal) has left the team and entered the player assistance program after the passing of his mother. No comments from me on this, just wish Connor well with anything going on and getting back on his feet.
Josh Norris / BUF – Norris (undisclosed) did not play against Boston on Monday, but is hopeful to return to the lineup by the end of the week. Josh has played a few games since being traded to Buffalo and everything points to either a bit of negative regression although he has been seeing similar or slightly higher ice time with his new team. It's still very early after the trade so not much of a sample size to go off of.
Mathew Barzal / NYI – Barzal (knee) has missed 30 odd games this season already due to his injury and looks set to miss the rest of the regular season as well. Mathew has been out since February 1st and was good for 20 points in his 30 games played this season.
Andrei Svechnikov / CAR – Svechnikov (upper body) returned to practice this morning (Wednesday) but was sporting a yellow non-contact jersey. Svechnikov is one of those players that people have held onto year over year hoping for a major break out and never getting it. Their head coach may have something to do with it by spreading minutes out across the lineup fairly evenly.
Neal Pionk / WPG – Pionk (lower body) has been out for a few days now, and is expected to be week-to-week. Colin Miller has taken over power play two duties, and Dylan Samberg has stepped up well in his absence.
Thanks again for reading, and please give me a follow, you can find me here on Twitter/X @LOGoalz for any questions, concerns, or abuse you may want to shower me with. It seems no one wished me luck last week since I went into the boards hard and destroyed my ribs one shift into my tournament on the weekend. How dare you all do this to me. Have a great week people!
