DFS Tuesday: Toronto’s Top Stars; St. Louis’ Second Line; Hellebuyck At Home, and More

Good day to everyone out there in DFSland! Somehow cashed last night with nothing but that little snowflake icon above a quarter of my players scores, and that included a zero from Mavrik Bourque. I mean, I'll take it, I guess? Tonight, is a funny slate but there's a couple decent spots I may be targeting tonight.

Slate Preview

Toronto Maple Leafs

I can't not pick on the Philadelphia Flyers on yet another DFS slate, as their goaltending numbers have been abysmal going back to the beginning of this month, as well as going back even further prior to Four Nations. If I'm running into any issue, it's that I've seen Toronto play Philadelphia enough this season to know it comes out as low-scoring and while Philadelphia allows plenty of high danger goals at even strength, Toronto hasn't been as successful capitalizing on those opportunities at even strength. Still, this is a fully correlated Leafs top line in a great matchup. Price and popularity aside, I keep coming back to this group and if popularity is going to drive interest, one way to get unique is to just full-on stack the five forward power play that Toronto has been running for months now. In single-entry, I don't know if I'm going to be putting all my eggs in one basket, but for three-max and above, if you got a lineup that is primarily Toronto, I'd find it hard to not at least want some exposure in a very good matchup.

St. Louis Blues

The Blues have won six games in a row and there have been parts of this winning streak where I have been all over this club. Yay me, great call out pat on the back…but I usually pair them with a stack that flops. Let's try and reverse that on this lovely Tuesday morning (it's cloudy and cold in Chicago). You could go right back to Dylan Holloway ($5,900), Brayden Schenn ($4,800) and Jordan Kyrou ($6,400), and if that's your play then that's fine, but I may keep the second-line wings and mix-and-match my centers. Yes, you'll lose power play correlation, but I don't mind getting exposure all across this St. Louis club. As for Robert Thomas, I have trouble spending up to $6,400, even following a three-assist game, but just to get a unique build I may look to allocate some of my spending to get some of the Blues first line if I decide to make them my main stack. I wish Dalibor Dvorsky was in the player pool, I had a trade for him in dynasty and he's a prospect that I've had my eye on for a little bit now. I'm on the fence with a couple different options for single-entry but I can say for certain that if I play St. Louis tonight, it would just be with the forward groupings, nothing on the blue line for me on this slate.

Calgary Flames

I'm going to be honest with you guys, I seriously looked at the other side of this matchup and play some Seattle Kraken for the first time since November, but I just can't do it with their broken lines and ice time concerns. What tilted the scale for me to Calgary is if Seattle starts Joey Daccord in net as he has had a rough go of it as of late, with only one game in the past nine where he has allowed two goals or fewer. My issue with Calgary is just shooting based, but if I'm looking anywhere, it may be the second line of Jonathan Huberdeau ($5,600), Morgan Frost ($4,600), and Matthew Coronato ($4,900). I don't mind completely leaving off Morgan Frost as well for this slate as he is one of the Calgary forwards that I worry may not shoot enough to warrant value, which in that case I would spend up to get to Nazem Kadri at $7,100. The way the Flames are priced tonight is such that you wouldn't be able to add them with an expensive stack, but could find another similarly priced group to go with them, which could be where St. Louis comes in as a dance partner or going down the lines for Toronto or even Carolina.

Defensemen

My ceiling tonight is fairly-low, as I think Brandon Montour ($5,700) or Moritz Seider ($5,500), is as high as I want to go with salary. I like Rasmus Andersson tonight at $5,300 because he could see a minutes boost if Mackenzie Weegar is out. Brent Burns for Carolina makes for a decent play at $4,900 and just below him I like Noah Hanifin at $4,700. Travis Sanheim for Philadelphia is around a price point that I feel good about playing him at $4,400 as I tend to stay away when he gets up into the high $4K's. For cheaper defensemen, I like Owen Power tonight at $3,700 along with Ryan McDonagh at $3,500.

Goalies

Connor Hellebuyck is again below $8K on home ice, only this time he'll likely see plenty of volume with the Capitals in town. Either St. Louis goaltender is fine with me at $7,800, and for the same price, Adin Hill going up against Minnesota is a goalie that I have real interest in tonight. On the other side of that matchup, I could see myself possibly playing Marc-Andre Fleury but that's only if I need to save a little bit of salary in my build.

Good luck tonight everybody!
