DFS Saturday: Senators and Stars Stacks

Hello, all! This is going to be a wild slate. I've looked at each matchup now a couple of times and have come to the point where I may make three lineups just to try and get a little unique. The contests on DraftKings are a little funny today, so if you read this before the main slate opens and want to get a spot in some of the single-entry tournaments, then I would go ahead and reserve a spot early.

Slate Preview

Boston

Let's talk Boston, something we seldom ever do for DFS these days. They'll see the Red Wings, who in the last month have the worst penalty killing percentage in the league and going back even further, it's been a bottom five PK. This means we target Boston, right? Well, yes but I'm only going so far, and by so far, I mean a good ole fashioned David Pastrnak one off at $8,900. I just don't understand these lines and right now am not sure if they stick throughout the entirety of the game. If you want to pair Pastrnak with a player on the blue line, the choice for me is Mason Lohrei at $4,400. Lohrei's play has been up and down, but he's someone that I like and is at a price that's reasonable to fit into my lineup. I want to get to some Boston tonight, but I don't think you'll see any stacks from me.

Ottawa

I don't know how the Ottawa power play isn't burying a goal once a game with some of their underlying numbers, but this Ottawa club is sort of a mystery like that. Since Christmas, I can't of a streakier club to where there has been points since that time where they have won 10 of 13 games, then lose five in a row, rip off seven wins in ten days, and then coming into Tuesday, had lost three of four before ultimately falling to Buffalo. Still, I'm gravitating towards playing the Senators here tonight on the road in Columbus.

While the Jackets' defense has been playing better at times during the past two weeks (minus Friday against Vancouver), I have interest in a power play stack for the Senators, getting away from trying to guess which even strength line that I like best. It all starts with Brady Tkachuk who is down in price at $7,300. From there, I know I'll take Tim Stutzle at $6,300 and Drake Batherson at $5,100. If you just want to keep this a three forward grouping for a build that's fine or go full on power-play stack and bring on Jake Sanderson at $5,900 and Dylan Cozens at $5,400. Something has to give with this powerplay. I'm right there on putting in Ottawa into my lineup to the point where if you're playing single-entry or MME, they have to be in consideration.

Dallas

If there's an expensive line that I can see myself getting to tonight, it's Dallas. It's not that I don't like Toronto, it's just that I would rather take a line going into Seattle than I would going into Los Angeles. If I can fit in Jason Robertson ($7,700), Mikko Rantanen ($6,800), and Roope Hintz at $6,400 in single-entry then I may look to stack this group and find a filler elsewhere. This line is going to be fully correlated with nothing on the Seattle side that would worry me in slowing them down at even strength or on the man advantage. Dallas is sixth in scoring over the past 30 days, with much of the scoring coming right from the top. I like the Dallas depth in this matchup as well, but for my money I'll stack the top line in a good matchup.

Defensemen

Top of the board today is Zach Werenski at $7,500 who I would play as a one-off at this point if I had the salary to do so. He's slowed down a little bit with just one point in seven games but is still live for the shot bonus on each slate. I like Thomas Harley with Dallas stacks up at $6,700 but can see fitting him in as a one-off as well if your salary allows it. Darnell Nurse at $5,400 is a decent play tonight going out against Calgary, and on the opposite side of that matchup is Rasmus Andersson at $5,200. Tonight is funny because I don't have much interest if going lower down the list for defensemen, but if I were to go down the list it would be to block bot Mario Ferraro at $3,700.

Goalies

Either Senators goaltender is top of the board tonight at $8,500 and as much as I have interest in the Senators' skaters, I may stay away from either netminder. Dustin Wolf at $7,300 is at a great price to where I would have interest going up against the Oilers but would stay away from the Flames in net if Dan Vladar gets the start tonight. Either Boston netminder is fine with me at $7,100 but would lean more towards Jeremy Swayman if he is named the starter tonight.

Good luck tonight everybody!
