DFS Thursday: Cheap Red Wings; Once More With Columbus; Kings At Home

Good day to all my DFS folks out there! We finally made it – the last day of the NHL regular season is finally here. The NHL of course did us plenty of favors with every game except one starting at the same time and nobody has a meaningful thing to play for, but that's not stopping me from throwing some dollars down on the ol' DFS machine.

Slate Preview

Detroit Red Wings

I would like to cash in my Red Wings miss playoffs and Red Wings under points please and thanks. I'll take that and throw it right back on the Wings but this time I have interest in them for DFS. They'll be going up against a Toronto Maple Leafs team that could have some players maybe missing tonight's contest for rest purposes, giving us a good opportunity for a cheaper-than-usual Red Wings stack. For me I'll be looking to stack a two-forward, one-defenceman trio here and if that's the case I'll be looking at Dylan Larkin ($6,400) and Lucas Raymond ($5,400). Both have been playing exceptional the past week and might find themselves in a good spot tonight. I know what I'm about to say may have zero bearing on DFS tonight, but maybe we get an extra motivated Dylan Larkin? It's a crime that we haven't seen him in playoffs since 2015, I don't think people realize how good he is and can be without that exposure. Here's to maybe next year…in the meantime, maybe don't acquire Andrew Copp, Jeff Petry, Vladimir Taraskenko, and keep Jake Walman. On the Wings tonight.

Columbus Blue Jackets

We have to look back on all the good times we had playing this Jackets club this season. Christmas Even against Carolina, 7-6 OT win against the Bolts back in November, we've had some good times together so why not one more against an Islanders club that let us down just as many times as the Jackets got us across the finish line. You know the drill with this Jackets team: It's top line or bust as Kirill Marchenko ($6,200), Sean Monahan ($6K) and Boone Jenner ($5,900) are all fully correlated going up against an Islanders team that has a very subpar PK. If you want to exchange Jenner for Adam Fantilli at the center position and save $600, that's also fine with me. In my single entry I may be leaning Columbus tonight, we'll call it one more victory lap before playoffs.

Los Angeles Kings

I was very impressed that Calgary came back and beat the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday as when I turned that game off to head to sleep it was 3-1 Vegas with the Knights in full control. While I have no issues going to Calgary again, my interest may be more on the Kings side to grab a one-off. Adrian Kempe at $6,500 or Kevin Fiala at $6K are mainly where I'm looking, but if you wanted to use this team for some fillers, that could be a decent play as well. Alex Laferriere at $4K would be where I target, otherwise it would be more spend up options. It's the last day of the season so we're drawing straws, but I don't mind going to the team that had the best home record in the NHL this season.

Defensemen

Playing the Jackets forwards tonight is something that I can get behind, playing Zach Werenski at $8K might need some convincing but if I have the salary than I'll go all the way to the top and roster him. At that price though, he needs to get on the board in order to hold value but two assists like he got last game out versus Philly will get you there. Adam Fox at $6,200 would be more of a play to where if he came up in an optimizer then I'd keep him in, but I may be looking elsewhere. Noah Dobson below $6K is a good price and Moritz Seider at $5,400 may already be in my very early build; just sayin'. I have a strict "No Penguins" rule in DFS but if you want to go and roster Erik Karlsson at $4,900 because he may see big minutes tonight. I can't say that I'm all in on the defensemen tonight, but there's some alright cheap options with Chris Tnaev $3,500 and Martin Fehervary at $3,200.

Goalies

David Rittich would be my ceiling at $8,300, I don't mind him at home tonight against the Flames, but that would only be a play I make if I have the salary to do so. Either Buffalo goaltender is fine tonight at $7,800 but I lean Jame Reimer just a little bit more on this slate. Jet Greaves at $7,500 might be a really fun play and could see if this were NFL Countdown, Chris Berman calling him 'Benny And The' Jet Greaves. 98 outside corner, he's still got it. I'm fine with going to either Rangers goaltender that gets the green light tonight and could be talked into Tristian Jarry at $7,300 in MME.

Good luck tonight everybody!
