With the first round of the 2024-25 playoffs underway, we can look at each Western Team to see how some relevant players performed in the playoffs previously. Most people had their playoff pools this weekend, so this might be a refresher for players you ended up with.
We will post what each player has produced since 2021-22.
Colorado Avalanche
Nathan MacKinnon (38-20-25-45): had 208 SOG in just 38 games, which is over five per game!
Cale Makar (37-14-35-49): with 20 PPP. Has outscored MacKinnon over the three years.
Artturi Lehkonen (38-17-14-31): He's produced well for the Avalanche in recent playoffs.
Valeri Nichushkin (30-19-7-26) played just two games in 2022-23, when the Avalanche were eliminated in seven games.
Jonathan Drouin (3-0-3-3): Drouin joined the Avalanche in 2022-23 but has only managed to play three playoff games out of 18 that Colorado has played.
Brock Nelson (11-4-5-9): The Islanders were knocked out in the first round in two of the three years they made the playoffs since 2021-22.
Martin Necas (40-8-13-21): Necas did have nine points in 11 games in 2023-24 with Carolina.
Charlie Coyle (27-4-9-13): Coyle did have 16 points in 24 games with Boston during the 2018-19 playoffs.
Devon Toews (37-7-22-27): Toews has averaged 0.73 points per game in the playoffs compared to 0.61/g in the regular season since 2021-22.
Samuel Girard (23-1-7-8)
Ross Colton (40-7-10-17): Colton played 11 games in 2023-24 with Colorado and the other 29 games with Tampa Bay.
Ryan Lindgren (40-3-7-10): Lindgren played all 40 games with the NY Rangers but has a lot of recent playoff experience.
Josh Manson (36-5-10-15): Manson has a little more offense in the playoffs than he typically does in the regular season.
Dallas Stars
Jason Robertson (45-14-24-38): Robertson suffered what appeared to be a knee injury in his last game of the regular season. He's officially out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
Wyatt Johnston (38-14-8-22): Johnston didn't see any games as a rookie in 2021-22 and had just six points in 19 games in 2022-23. He is trending up.
Mikko Rantanen (38-16-33-49): Ironically, Rantanen will meet his old team, the Avalanche, in the first round. He has outscored MacKinnon since 2021-22 in the playoffs. He has played 81 career playoff games with 34 goals and 67 assists.
Jamie Benn (43-8-20-28): He can elevate his game come the playoffs and produce a little more than he typically does in the regular season.
Roope Hintz (40-14-22-36): His shots per game were only 1.1 in 2023-24 after being 3.1 in 2022-23. His goals went from 10 in 19 games to two in 15 games.
Mikael Granlund (4-0-3-3): Granlund hasn't made it out of the first round of the playoffs since 2014-15. He has 59 career games with 11 goals and 21 assists.
Mason Marchment (35-8-4-12): He has 122 hits in 35 games but hasn't seen much production in the playoffs.
Matt Duchene (23-5-5-10): Duchene scuttled in the playoffs in 2023-24 with just six points in 19 games. In 51 career games, he has 12 goals and 19 assists.
Tyler Seguin (45-12-14-26): Seguin has played 133 playoff games in his career with 25 goals and 46 assists.
Evgenii Dadonov (35-7-10-17): Dadonov is a bit of a sleeper pick but has produced recently.
Thomas Harley (38-1-12-13): Harley will have the advantage of being the quarterback on the first unit of the power play unless Miro Heiskanen returns from his injury.
Miro Heiskanen (45-8-23-31): If Heiskanen can return after the first round, he might be worth a late-round pick-up. He has 61 points in 85 career playoff games.
Cody Ceci (52-3-10-13): Ceci has played a lot of playoff hockey over the past three years with Edmonton and is in his first playoff with Dallas.
Edmonton Oilers
Connor McDavid (53-26-69-95): McDavid had 42 points in 25 games in 2023-24 and led all skaters in scoring. He has 117 points in 74 career games.
Leon Draisaitl (53-30-51-81): What makes this even more impressive is that Draisaitl played hurt for much of the 2021-22 playoffs, where he had 32 points in 16 games. He has 108 career points in 74 games.
Jeff Skinner (0-0-0-0): Skinner will be appearing in his first career playoff game after 15 NHL seasons.
Evan Bouchard (53-13-45-58): Bouchard is averaging 1.09 points per game in the playoffs compared to 0.69/g in the regular season.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (53-14-32-46): Nugent-Hopkins has 22 power-play points out of those 46 points.
Viktor Arvidsson (11-1-9-10): He had been knocked out of the first round the past two years by his current team when he was playing with Los Angeles. He has 13 goals and 24 assists in 72 career games.
Darnell Nurse (51-4-12-16): Nurse saw his ice time dip to just over 18 minutes per game in the 2023-24 playoffs.
Jake Walman (0-0-0-0): Walman has played one playoff game in his career with St. Louis in 2020-21.
Brett Kulak (53-2-13-15): Kulak had a career-high eight playoff points in 25 games in 2023-24.
Mattias Ekholm (41-6-13-19): Ekholm is likely to miss the first round of the playoffs.
Los Angeles Kings
Kevin Fiala (14-2-9-11): In 43 career playoff games, Fiala has produced just 11 goals and 12 assists.
Anze Kopitar (18-4-10-14): Kopitar and the Kings haven't made it out of the first round since 2013-14, when they won the Stanley Cup. In 97 career games, he has produced 79 points.
Adrian Kempe (18-11-8-19): Kempe has led the Kings in point scoring over the past three playoffs.
Andrei Kuzmenko (0-0-0-0): Kuzmenko has yet to play an NHL playoff game.
Quinton Byfield (13-1-7-8): Byfield has averaged 0.62 points per playoff game compared to 0.55/g in the regular season.
Trevor Moore (18-4-5-9): Moore has averaged about 0.6 points per game in the past three regular seasons, and 0.5/g in the playoffs.
Warren Foegele (47-5-7-12): Foegele has quite a bit of playoff experience with Edmonton and Carolina. He has played 80 games with 12 goals and 12 assists.
Phillip Danault (18-5-6-11): Danault has 56 career games with seven goals and 13 assists.
Alex Laferriere (5-1-1-2): Laferriere is in just his second NHL season and increased his production from 0.28 points per game to 0.55.
Drew Doughty (11-2-4-6): Doughty didn't play a game in the 2021-22 playoffs because he was hurt. He's played 95 career playoff games with 57 points.
Minnesota Wild
Kirill Kaprizov (13-8-3-11): The Wild missed the playoffs in 2023-24, but Kaprizov played hurt in his six games in 2022-23 and produced just one goal. He is back healthy for the 2024-25 playoffs and had two assists in Game 1.
Joel Eriksson Ek (8-3-2-5): Eriksson Ek played just one game in the 2022-23 playoffs as he was injured.
Matt Boldy (13-3-3-4): Boldy had struggled to produce in his first two playoff experiences but had two goals in Game 1 against Vegas.
Marco Rossi (1-0-0-0): This will be Rossi's first experience in the NHL playoffs after 185 career games. In his first game, he played 12:15, had one SOG and three hits.
Mats Zuccarello (13-3-6-9): Zuccarello has played 96 playoff games with 18 goals and 37 assists.
Brock Faber (7-0-0-0): Faber played six games in the 2022-23 playoffs after having just two NHL games under his belt.
Jared Spurgeon (13-0-5-5): Spurgeon has never gone beyond the second round in his career. He has played 67 playoff games with six goals and 23 assists.
Zeev Buium (1-0-0-0): Buium played his first NHL game (regular or playoff) on Sunday night in Game 1 against Vegas. He played 13:27 with one SOG, two hits and played on the first unit of the PP.
St. Louis Blues
Dylan Holloway (26-5-2-7): Holloway made it to the Stanley Cup finals in 2023-24 with Edmonton.
Robert Thomas (13-3-5-8): Thomas scored a goal in the Blues' 5-3 Game 1 loss to Winnipeg. In 46 career games, he has just five goals and 14 assists.
Pavel Buchnevich (13-1-11-12): The Blues didn't make the playoffs in 2022-23 or 2023-24.
Jake Neighbours (1-0-1-1): Neighbours played his first career NHL playoff game and put up an assist.
Brayden Schenn (13-0-8-8): Schenn has played 76 career playoff games and has 11 goals and 29 assists. He won the Cup with St. Louis in 2018-19.
Jordan Kyrou (13-8-2-10): Kyrou had a goal in Game 1 and has eight goals in his past 13 playoff games.
Jimmy Snuggerud (1-0-0-0): Snuggerud played 16:31 in Game 1 and was on the first unit of the power play.
Philip Broberg (21-2-1-3): Broberg had his breakout in the 2023-24 playoffs with Edmonton, where he had three points in 10 games and was a plus eight. St. Louis signed him to an offer sheet in the off-season.
Justin Faulk (13-1-9-10): Faulk has played 39 career games and has produced 19 points (0.48/g), which is almost on par with his career regular season production of 0.47/g.
Cam Fowler (1-0-1-1): Fowler played his first playoff game since 2016-17. He has 63 career games with 34 points.
Colton Parayko (13-2-3-5): Parayko was part of the Stanley Cup-winning Blues team in 2018-19. He has 10 goals and 22 assists in 83 career playoff games.
Vegas Golden Knights
Ivan Barbashev (42-7-17-24): Barbashev had 18 points in 22 games during the Stanley Cup-winning 2022-23 campaign.
Jack Eichel (30-9-24-33): Eichel had 26 points in 22 games in 2022-23. He had never played a playoff game before that year.
Mark Stone (30-14-13-27): Stone has played 102 career playoff games and produced 37 goals and 40 assists. 75 of those games have been with Vegas since 2018-19.
Brandon Saad (13-2-4-6): Saad has 103 career playoff games and has 27 goals and 27 assists. He was acquired from St. Louis at the trade deadline this year. He had an assist in his first playoff game with Vegas.
Tomas Hertl (8-2-1-3): In his first playoffs with Vegas in 2023-24, he struggled with just one goal in seven games. He has 69 career games with 25 goals and 18 assists. In Game 1, he potted one goal and added an assist against the Wild.
Pavel Dorofeyev (2-1-0-1): Dorofeyev had just one playoff game under his belt before this season, but with 35 goals in 2024-25, he should be a factor this year. In Game 1, he had a power play goal.
Reilly Smith (23-4-10-14): Vegas brought Smith back at the deadline as he's played 106 playoff games with 26 goals and 53 assists. He has played 88 of those games with Vegas.
William Karlsson (30-11-8-19): Karlsson has played 100 playoff games with 30 goals and 38 assists. In his seven games in 2023-24, he had just two assists.
Victor Olofsson (1-0-0-0): Olofsson had yet to play a playoff game in the NHL after 370 career games. He went pointless in his first playoff game but had one SOG and two hits while playing just over 14 minutes.
Nicolas Roy (30-3-9-12): Roy was held pointless in seven games with Vegas in 2023-24. He had an assist in Game 1 against the Wild.
Brett Howden (30-8-6-14): Howden had a breakout in 2024-25 with 23 goals and 40 points in 80 games. He had two goals in Game 1 against Minnesota.
Shea Theodore (29-1-13-14): Theodore has played 115 career playoff games and has put up 15 goals and 54 assists (0.61/g) compared to 0.65/g in the regular season.
Alex Pietrangelo (29-1-11-12): Pietrangelo had just one point in seven games in 2023-24 as Vegas was ousted in the first round. He won the Stanley Cup in 2018-19 with St. Louis and 2022-23 with Vegas.
Noah Hanifin (20-2-7-9): Hanifin has 35 career playoff games and has two goals and 12 assists.
Winnipeg Jets
Kyle Connor (11-7-5-12): Connor had three points in in the Jets' 5-3 Game 1 win over St. Louis. The Jets had been knocked out in five games in both years before.
Mark Scheifele (10-4-6-10): Scheifele had a big first game as well with three points. In 43 career games, he has 22 goals and 19 assists.
Alex Iafallo (19-5-5-10): Iafallo has six games with Winnipeg and 13 games with Los Angeles.
Nino Niederreiter (25-5-6-11): Niederreiter has 93 career playoff games with 16 goals and 20 assists.
Vladislav Namestnikov (17-2-3-5): Namestnikov has 57 career games with just seven goals and seven assists (0.25/g) compared to his 0.43/g in the regular season.
Cole Perfetti (2-0-0-0): Perfetti has played just two playoff games, as he was a healthy scratch in four playoff games in 2023-24. He needs to prove that he can flourish in the playoffs.
Gabriel Vilardi (12-2-6-8): Vilardi missed Game 1 as he recovers from an injury. He could be back in the first round, as the Jets will miss his offense.
Nikolaj Ehlers (6-0-2-2): Ehlers might be out for the first round. Historically, he has struggled a little in his 37 career games, with just four goals and 10 assists.
Adam Lowry (11-7-1-8): Lowry has scored seven goals in his past 11 playoff games. He has played 50 career games with 12 goals and nine assists.
Josh Morrissey (9-3-4-7): Morrissey has played 43 games in the playoffs and has five goals and 11 assists. He had two assists in Game 1.
Neal Pionk (11-0-8-8): Pionk has 14 assists in 23 career games (0.61/g) compared to 0.48/g in the regular season.
