Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. Welcome to the Injury Ward. My name is Logan Clarkson and every Wednesday I will be chauffeuring you through injury news and updates from around the NHL. I'll do my best to offer useful analysis and opinion as it relates to fantasy throughout. As always I’d like to thank every single one of you for reading. Now, on to the bad (and some good) news.
A.J. Greer / FLA – Greer (lower body) is set to miss game one against the Oilers tonight as per Paul Maurice, head coach of the Florida Panthers. Greer has only averaged about 7:47 of ice time this postseason and it has propelled his production to the level of three points in the 12 games he has participated in. Jesper Boqvist will draw back into the lineup in his place.
Connor Brown / EDM – Brown (illness) will take warm ups tonight to decide whether or not he is fit enough to play. For Edmonton's sake I hope he is, since they will already be without Zach Hyman for the entirety of the Stanley cup finals due to a dislocated wrist courtesy of Mason Marchment last week. Connor has been good for eight points in 14 games so far this postseason from the fourth line. Depth scoring is going to be critical in this series for the Oilers.
Jesper Fast / CAR – Fast (neck) was injured in the last game of the 2023-24 season and has decided to call it a career due to it. Fast played 703 NHL games over 11 seasons, finishing his career with 91 goals and 248 points.
Sean Walker / CAR – Walker (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury late during the regular season, and then a hit in Game 2 of the ECF hurt it even further, pushing him out of the lineup. Sean had posted a goal and two assists in 12 games played this playoffs while averaging 18:24 of ice time per game.
Jalen Chatfield / CAR – Chatfield (hip) has said that his injury is something related to his hip and had hampered his speed throughout the playoffs. Chatfield played in nine games for the Canes this postseason and scored one goal in 20:24 average ice time. He also managed a +6 in his time on ice, which is not the best stat when looking at anything really, but is still fairly impressive, especially conaidering the impact of his injury.
Bo Horvat / NYI – Horvat (Ankle) was injured this past week at the world championship and the Islanders had this to say about it "Bo Horvat has an ankle injury and is expected to recover in 4-6 weeks. He is already beginning his rehabilitation." This came during Canada's fall short at the tournament in the quarterfinals in a national first 2-1 loss to Denmark.
Eetu Luostarinen / FLA – Luostarinen (undisclosed) left Florida's final game against Carolina in the Eastern conference final. The Panthers provided no update on him this week leading up to game one tonight.
